Is this just a Max-type software at work?

Some of you may know that I am *sort of* curious about Rendered stuff, I wanna know what's going on here:

Is this just a video as a texture?

...

I think 1995 called: they wanted their "My First After Effects Tutorial" back.

'max type software' already made me facepalm
gloom, maali: ofcourse you could actually use your time to give the guy some pointers instead of trolling. but what would be the fun in that?

No idea what effect you're on about, the bit i saw looked like a standard music video. But man, that shit was freaky... i should stop trying to watch videos when i've got screen brightness inverted cause i'm working in the dark :D

what's your question actually? if you ask about how those 3d transformations of 'postcards' with videos on them were done, that could be basically any CG package, and yes, most probably that's adobe after effects.

ps: ok

the answer is NO. it's a video rendered on a perspectively corrected layer.
ps: ok

the answer is: it was done using After Effects, in the technique Maali just described.

This song is so bad compared to "Do it"
OK, I have never experienced After Effects, though I've heard about it of course, but it looks like you guys (gloom and Maali) were wrong. Check this:

What is a "crate prop"? What exactly does Discreet Flame do?
bitnaughty: that link goes nowhere specific (it's probably behind login/a paywall) which makes it hard to comment on what it says. I've never heard the term "crate prop" before (apart from in instances where it is an _actual_ crate prop), but I'm assuming it's another term for "dummy object", aka an object you cannot actually see when rendering, but is used as an anchor for other objects in the scene.

..or, put differently: a perspective corrected layer.

we weren't neccesarily wrong, as there are like a billion apps to do what AE does, Discreet Flame being one of them. So is lightworks, eyeon fusion, etc...

So, apparently they filmed a real crate and positioned 2d artwork and videos in 3D perspective onto that using Flame.
maali: what an ass-backwards way to do it. :)

Prop = some object you use on stage during filming. Crate = large wooden box, generally used as a measure of game quality by measuring the time taken to find one.

And discreet = a company. Flame and Fire = a product of that company. It's a product called flame and fire from a company specialising in visual effects, try and guess what it does.

To do it in realtime: AR Toolkit / spinoffs might be of interest: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARToolKit.
Or look for "Natural Feature Augmented Reality".
Also this one looks nice: http://www.opentl.org/

Try googling for 'infinite zoom' as well : http://www.techhive.com/article/223108/limitless_infinite_zoom.html
