Recruiting group members

category: general [glöplog]
Hello,

We are wanting to recruit some new members in many traditional areas (coders, graphists, musicians and community managers) of the demoscene. If you are interested, please do not post here or respond to flaming or trolls but rather submit some material via the email indicated on our group page.

Kind regards

Baud
For everybody thinking about this:

What does a community manager do, and what are his superior(s) and subordinates called like?

Hey Mr.Nightgolf! I think perhaps Boozoholics might need a couple of mean 4channel chiptunes!
If I could join any group I want it would be Peer.

I imagine RSI currently has lots of community managers, but no coders/gfx/music people.

I wonder why Bit Arts (as one person or a group) is missing from the official RSI site member list though?

i like rebel groups hated by everyone. all unanimity is stupid, anyway.

In Soviet Russia, RSI gets sceners.

If i was one of the founders of RSI, i would've stated that at some point during (joke) prods in the 90's/2ks? Or maybe some group member who would rermember? You were one of the founders of RSI? No one remembers? Even Wikipedia article was wrong? Why didnt you say so already in 90's? I would at least be very proud of that.

Smells like bullshit to me.

And as i said, Bit Arts is missing from the memberlist.

@Reed & @ Serpent : a "community manager" is a vague term that can be replaced by :
one that cannot code, or draw, or compose music, or is just tired, but likes to say "hi" to people *more than the average person* on irc or social media or websites such as this one. A lot of groups have them, they are the "nice guys", the front-end. They are important for they prevent others from having to deal with chitchat on a regular basis and are present most of the time on-line thus enhancing normalized communication fluidity as a whole.

@Serpent : I will verify about Bit Arts. Good eye.

@Scali : RSI's history is quite chaotic so to not talk of "one and only RSI", but yes "ruling is (still) our job" and in the line of your technical articles blog (nice read btw) but I'm afraid the group would be too small for you to be able to "express" yourself.

@Kylearan : in that sense and on the contrary Pouet trolls would be welcomed if they can stay polite eventually, although specializing exclusively in that domain is quite narrow.

@Maali : yes you are the archetype of what I described above and as such would make a great community manager (which you already are if I am not mistaken ?). So yes, we seek someone as yourself although there are no standards :)

@gMAN : thanks man ! Your encouragement is appreciated and yes staying real is probably the best thing that can happen in your life.

@rasmus/loonies & @xTr1m & @Canopy : I read kb when the link was spammed in the one-liner already the previous day and as interesting as it was (because it was), I am uncertain the latter understands or cares for specifically everything he is commenting about : for example dismissing some of the exchanges as a "kindergarden fight" is degrading and far from the truth. Fighting is a waste of ressources and just as sometimes it is difficult to explain what demoscene (the point of) is to non-demosceners, it is just as difficult to explain legacy (the point of) to some demosceners. I'm ok with that, it's all part of the game : been there, done that.

@psonice : you are imagining wrong as it is the opposite, we are missing community managers and graphists mostly. There are like 5 good graphists around nowadays and all are taken and overworked sadly : they are so scarce, some are even group leaders. We also value coders on other platforms or just autonomous new idea-bringers able to implement them. We're pretty much open to anybody with good will and manners.

@imerso : yes it obligatory denotes something, doesn't it ? Makes you want to read again John kennedy Toole's "A confederacy of dunces". Luckily as often mentioned here, pouet!=scene.

So do not seek fame or legendary BS, leave your preconceived ideas and sarcasm behind, but do join to write yet a new page of a still open book because your strong-mindedness will be a plus :)
Baudsurfer: RSI has no excisting right anymore as soon as RSI became part of TRSI
And since TRSI never split up afterwards in on the one hand Tristar and the other hand Red Sector Incorporated how can there be RSI excisting next to TRSI ? That's locically and legally not possible ;-)
