Revision 2015 - 3rd to 6th April - Saarbrücken, Germany
category: parties [glöplog]
This is probably a long shot, for a two reasons (day and audience), but I'm going to try anyway. Is there anyone interested in playing a "board game" or two on Thursday evening? I'm not much of a drink-a-crapload-of-beer guy as I know some groups hold mini-mini-parties the night before. There were a few interested Nectarines but they, I think, mostly arrive Friday and after. Something may get planned to encompass them if time is found.
As of this moment I'm planning to haul along Guillotine (2-5 players), The Resistance (5-10), Splendor (2-4), and maybe Hanabi (2-5). Mostly because they're easy to pick up on, don't take too long to play, and can be packed down for my luggage. So definitely not the likes of Risk, Dominant Species, or Diplomacy. :P
If you're in for trying something new and non-electronic on Thursday evening say something. :) I don't know where I'd hold it yet, though I am staying at the Crystal hotel so there's potential there (they have tables around; probably can't do it outside given the forecast, but ... worst case, in someone's hotel room somewhere). Really depends on interest.
P.S.: I'd totally bring Robo Rally if this were closer. Programming a "robot" to tag flags + obstacles + messing with your friends = a huge lot of fun. :) However, the boards for the play area are a bit big.

Starchaser, won´t be in until friday + I am one of them drink a shitload of anything with alcohol kinda dudes. But a boardgame or two at the partyplace would be awesome! If you could bring one to the hall, I would love to sit down for an hour or two and play a round with you and other sceners - so much fun! If you do bring it and plan to play a bit at the party, ask around for me (Xerxes) :)

A acquaintance of mine once had a reallife-robo rally. It was played outside, all bots were humans and they were shooting with water guns. :o)
Starchaser: I am organizing so I probably won't have time, but I love board games.
And will have Aye, Dark Overlord (appropriately) with me (:
It's a bullshitting game where one person is the GM who RP's the dark overlord, and the other folks are their minions who failed to do something, and keep blaming each other with increasingly ridiculous results (using the Hint cards provided in any way they wish). It's a storytelling game with a frame. Has been a big hit even in Finland with a bunch of college students in a scifi club there, including folks who were pretty shaky in English, which is a ringing endorsement.
Also just got a copy of Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Duel at Mt. Skullzfyre which is fun and hilarious if you can get at least four people. Crunchy enough to be interesting, but not too crunchy to play gently sozzled. That said, I'm a little nervous about playing it at Revision because it might get covered with beer, and that would make me sad. But I'll have it with me anyway.

No Risk? Awh :( Risk is awesome! I probably won't be able stay put for any extended period of time but Risk is epic.
Starchaser: Im staying in crystal on Thursday! It'll be fun.
Should I grab my Munchin game to ? :)

thursday night is finish your fucking compo entries night, not boardgame night :)
there's a fucking compo?
smash but... but... what about the time honored tradition of still partycoding hours after the deadline on Saturday? :D
nah, that's this weekend. I'm organizing thursday.
you are organizing?
Smash: If I work on an Hex grid effect I can do both :)
Is it another week I have to wait... Damn.
Okkie: However, you can already prepare yourself for something huuuuuuge... :) But I won´t tell you what it is.

I'm even lazier than those folks. I didn't start an entry, or you could say I didn't bother finishing the one I started a year ago. :)by smash:

We can find time if you really wanted to. :) The ones I'm bringing I'd played many times before but I bought for this, so if anything happens I'm okay with that ... however it would be nice if they came home intact and unsoiled so I can add them to the rest of my collection.by metoikos:

Cool! I'll likely have them at the party place, yeah. If nothing else, it should be easy to find me I hope. I'm going to try to steer the group I'm normally with to a table that abuts the main aisle and I'll have some goodies at the end to giveaway (the previously alluded to Pocky, etc.) assuming all my luggage arrives as planned.by xrs:

You can if you want. As said I'll have three to four games myself so if you haven't played those before and want to try something new ... I'm also up for playing Munchkin too if we can get a full crew of the usual backstabbers and such. :) Feel free to tell anyone you know anyone who would be interested in doing this on Thursday.by Deus:

If we get enough though, we can do a short round or two of The Resistance as well, which needs 5+ people. The others I have will go down to two if for some reason we don't find anyone else.
Also a reminder, if you wanted a wooden Revision or Nectarine key fob, I'll have those again.* For free. I'll try to pass them out or put them on/near the front desk if they'll let me. I really don't need to come home with them again. I'll probably still have a few if I don't set the box out (or before I do) so come find me.
The SceneSat ones will, as of the moment, be handed off to Ziphoid if/when I find him. So you should see him about getting one of those.
* This is on the assumption my luggage all arrives as planned. :)

have a few even if I do set the box*
My mind and body is getting ready for this. See you all soon!
Boardgaming sounds fun, but it sounds even more fun if we play something like Power Gri, especially with the German Map as an added meta joke. I'm not too interested in the other, lightweight, games for Thursday night, but might be during the party itself.
Power Grid is a bit big to haul from Norway (and might take a test run to learn, unfortunately). I can bring it though, if enough people are interested..

I have frequent board game nights, but can go to only two demoparties per year. I know I won't play any board games at Revision. :-)
the current weather projection isnt as sexy as previous years. cold and rainy. but there's still a week till some 25 degrees front can move in from the ocean! ;)
nuuuuu despite all efforts i can't come this time :(
funny, i'm moving away from saarbrücken just when revision is about to start. life takes mean turns sometimes.
party hard, and it would be nice if someone gave Wiklund a hug from me, his 2014 megamix sid has literally kept me sane during the last few months.
