Now, please split that figure of 250 up to the 3 users' individual posts.

Or don't.

Sorry 4gentE, I cannot give more hints on why TM2 might be good artistically. I do not believe in objectively good or bad stuff. Greippi was the creative mind here, I was his sidekick and did mostly grunt work. Maybe it's just a matter of taste. I cannot rule out that some people really appreciated TM2 even for artistic reasons.
I think that many thumbs here on Pouet as well as ratings on csdb etc. are for confirmation and friendship reasons. I catch myself doing this and I know it's bad. It may be doing buddies a short-term favour, but probably it's not doing our work a favour as a whole, in the long run. So yes, of course, perhaps TM2 got too many thumbs up for confirmation reasons, too.

No. Take your weird conspiracy theories somewhere else. Thank you. =)

Pretty rude thing to say. I thought we were, you know, communicating. Why are you being so aggressive with this fierce defense? You make some good prods, you make some bad prods, what's the big deal about this one? Again, I feel like I'm missing some hidden yet important context.

Perhaps that context will become clearer once you stop with the false dichotomies.

@bifat:

I like to flatter myself about being aware of certain biases I lug around.
1) I know I have a bias that favors certain level of visual quality/coherence which stems from my proffession.
2) I know I have a bias that favors minimalism which stems from long involvement within a certain field. This is a well recognized occurance.

Thanks for having patience to try and explain your point of view to me.

Oh god, you sound like you're so happy and proud you learned the term "false dichotomy" that you just can't stop saying it.

I don't worry about it "dominating" the scene or other artforms, at least not in the current state: It's soulless. The results are typically bland and quite uninspired.

Prompt: 90s sci-fi, woman in red suit, laser gun, in the style of Boris Vallejo

There is an obvious reason why the demoscene fears AI...
AI produces technically passable, artistically poor, stereotypical cliché material.
It gets perspective, lightning, and many other technical aspects quite right.
It's completely devoid of expression and originality.
It poaches in the very realm of surface value and superficiality that is characteristic of the demoscene...
It can provide good raw material for pop art collages.
If your style is original, it's not threatened by AI.
AI can even provide a benchmark for originality.

I like the use of AI in demoscene, it makes our demos look good!

Do you mean that before that your demos were not looking good? ;)

What your words also imply is: "If your style is original, run away from the demoscene as far as you can."

I guess we just reached the point, where someone has to post this. It's the law.

That's the pessimistic version. The optimistic version is: You can make a difference, show them how it can be done. (It's always been like that.)

Here's a perswastainen take on the artificial intelligence from viznut/pwp. It may have some insights you haven't read elsewhere.
http://viznut.fi/texts-en/machine_learning_rant.html

Can some implications for our demoscene focused AI discussion be found from there?

A potential notion that there is a corporate led AI industry with its "content" and we could resist it by creating alternatives for it has some appeal. But it remains to be seen what kind of uniform content thing may gain ground and if demosceners can find an idiosyncratic way to answer this development.

Could smaller DIY machine learning models be a thing for the scene?

Can demoscene otherwise steer things towards the prominence of transparent and user controlled, modifiable AI?
