pick up a random word from a dictionary and release it under that label, simply :)

uhm, i THINK he's searching for someone to deliver it for him, not for a group-name...

I think he is looking for someone to submit the thing (and to eventually pick up the prizes)

Kozyr, I suggest you to ask someone from the russian speaking area that will be there. Maybe AND will be kind enough ;)

If your entry is cool enough, I think you'd enjoy a lot to see it running on the big screen. Why don't you release at any nearby party? (I'm thinking of some polish, latvian or russian event).

dixan: some ppl dont have the "just another asm" feeling that you do, they still see it as "the mothership" of parties and feel the strong necessity to contribute there for fame and glory, because "everyone checks asm releases and no one checks small parties releases" or something.

"everyone checks asm releases and no one checks small parties releases"
the sickest thing no one would want to hear for real.

True, with the luck some people had last year, you'd probably end up with 5 AMD64 mainboards and 3 Intel CPUs for prizes.

Not likely as Intel hasn't been sponsoring us for years :-).

It is very hard to squeeze sponsors for money as they always prefer to give you hardware. It's pretty hard to pay for the party place with hardware, so there is no alternative but to use it as prizes. When you get a shit load of motherboards, there will be a shit load of motherboards as prizes. That is just how it goes.

We throw a good party and support the scene. Competitions are the main event at the party (ask anybody who has gone to ASM) and we give out more prizes than any other party (typically in excess of 30 k€). Yes there are gamers at the party, but those gamers turn off their monitors and watch your demos on the big screen - over 4000 people in the audience!

If ASM compos are worth shit, why is it that there are so many entries from ASM nominated and winning in Scene.org awards? This year half of the winners in Scene.org awards are from ASM04 including best demo, best 64k and best 4k.

My respect to everybody organizing a party and still smiling afterwards.

Kozyr: We're going to Assembly, so I think we could help you out. Go to our webpage and email us from the mail form.

BTW, I think Dixan is right. If you have the possibility you should go and get the kick of having your effects cover the Asm bigscreen.

Shit, managed to fuck up our own URL ;-). Here's the webpage.

who cares about the prizes anyways ? it's about releasing and participating into competitions.
at least for me.
prizes are a nifty plus, but I don't really care. and a new mainboard wouldn't be that bad right now =)
concerning the original topic of the thread: I would help you, but I'll arrive on friday, where 4k deadline is already over.

Abyss, that's circular logic at its best. The point is...

Exactly. And that can be asm or your local party. People release at asm for prizes and large (gamer) audience. And those are the wrong reasons to release.

def, people (pc people anyway) also release at asm because there's a good competition there, and there usually isnt that at smaller parties.
added on the 2005-07-12 15:38:03 by smash smash
and also because there have been no "winnerdemo" accidents in the past.

Kozyr: At worst, release your stuff once it's done, no need for a party for that. If it's cool enough it will be spread anyway and if it's not, it will get lost in the asm flood anyway :)
(nothing against asm at all by the way)

What? Is it trolls and bitching people that I hear in the distance? ;)
