"in demos you can have AI optimize the code", "in diskmags you can have AI gfx", "in x you can use AI for y". If we're doing this, why even bother at all. Just fucking open or close the floodgate. -
For me code optimization is the most interesting aspect of demo coding. It wouldn't make sense leaving this to AI. -
honestly, for me, AI has just been completely pointless. like it's genuinely easier to do stuff by hand than to bother with a machine that doesn't know what the hell it's doing -
What we don't want, is vibecoders. Our achievements should stay achievements. "Does the author understand this" should be the guideline. We should make write-ups and source releases the norm to improve our metric on coder achievement. -

It's no longer granted that I'll lead a life without unemployment and poverty. I'm at the mercy of my employers, who might decide to replace me with someone they need to pay less.
