- music has much more rigid rules as far as timing goes than visuals do; don't paint your musician in a corner.
- ever wondered why tracks on a film soundtrack CD are usually 1-2 minute long?
- because it's what it is: cues - music to emphasize certain points. very rare is the director (early darren aronofsky and christopher nolan comes to mind) who actually takes a longer piece of music and stages the action to it. in that sense demos are a lot more like music videos.
