this demo shows that you can still do a really bad demo with a top-notch demotool! as for the tools in the demoscene discussion, thanks for that :)

No i think this production is very well made, demotool or not, so it's a thumbs up from me. Even if it's not a Amiga production. 😅

Mixed feelings.
Saw those (or similar) effects already in other notch prods from other ppl.
The music is good, thou.

It's decent. I enjoyed watching it.

Not entirely maladapted! :]

A different demo. Full of bold decisions.

Nice caves. Love the music.

Felt very rushed and unpolished. Like modern Rush Hour with high production values :D

Some of the scenes were so weird it was hard to decide if this tries to take itself seriously or not, like the bowling scene or the one with stone-rasta-character dancing, one pushing a block which doesn't move and others jus standing there and then one of them runs around pile of trash until some pyramid hoverboard appears wtf :D Totally bonkers. Kind of liked it!

Camera movements made me wonder if they were artistic decision or some buggy timer running off-sync.

Cool petscii'ish logos.

So much went wrong during this demo. :-) Stock animations put in the middle of nowhere, ugly lightning both outdoors and (at places) indoors, and objects that randomly clip through other objects. It's puzzling to see a demo which focuses so much on objects interacting (like the hand holding the pyramid), while… they don't interact in any satisfying way at all. Like,a giant knocks a huge bowling ball with its knee and it just brakes into the pins and they go gently to rest, or the converse: A giant boulder clips into a running giant several frames before anything happens to that giant (which seems to be a weird teleportation-like thing in the end?). It comes off like a Notch tech demo somehow, but doesn't really work anywhere since it seems so reliant on faked physics where nothing feels like it has any weight.

I'd thumb it down, but the music is OK and there clearly was a fair amount of work involved here.

On "stock animations" I have to comment. Most of the animations in this demo are live acted mocap based animations. And moreover, the hand in the end is self modeled and hand animated (pun intended) animation by our really talented 3D artist BassCadet. So go figure out yeah.. and just ssying, its not always the shorrtest path taken with these "stock asset ready demo tool" made demos.

I stand corrected.

Nice, especially the opening. Great soundtrack, which also is best in the opening part.

Pretty much all of the sloppiness is caused by the fact we have had a single bottleneck problem, one person being in charge of developing everything in the timeline while simultaneously taking care of other demogroups. The rest of us can do assets and hope for the best. I crafted the hand animation to grab the object, turn it around in place and letting go off it. Sadly the animation couldn't be imported into Notch, even though I managed to get it working with another engine, so deepr had to quickly reanimate it using a different object and thus it has an unnatural feel.

The logo is authentic PETSCII, because that felt the most natural and efficient technology for me to work on. Hand crafted 10-frame animation.

The music is a co-op between me and Humanoid. Humanoid crafted the opening sequence, I did the latter one. But both of us helped each other, as Humanoid played the awesome guitar solo on my part and I sang some of the throat singing vocals in the opening sequence. Mastering by Legend.
