Pretty cool indeed.
Mirage had an amiga version of this which was also cool. It was done long before 3D dot globes became a cliche (this was the first I had seen) and didn't actually use a regular 3D formula - I think there was just some kind of added sinus involved - I asked Ern what the formula was but he said they got it from some 'maths' book and.... he'd forgotten :-(.
