This is a crossdev 'chipmusic' tracker (running on Windows) to create music for Amiga. All instruments are precalced on song init, hence the name 'PreTracker'. Used in 'Coda' and 'Preschool' by Abyss.

Wonderful Pink!
Would you be open for a port to SDL to make it multi platform?
Sadly I can’t help out with that but maybe someone here could?

i can understand not wanting to publish source code for player, but any chance to at least publish in linkable object format? This binary incbin with offsets is so unfriendly to use.

Well done on getting this out into the wild.

this sounds horrible in wine, can we hope for a native linux port?

I guess the audio buffer size is too small for Wine. A future update could make the buffer size adjustable to fix that.

Wooooooaaahhhhhhhhhhh! Annnnnnnd Flashback just included OCS Executable for the oldskool music category. Boyyyeah!

Amazing. I was privileged enough to have an early pre release of this, but alas had no time to play with it. I hope to try it out properly some day in the future.

The Coda soundtrack alone shows how awesome this thing is.

Looks great, seems very functional. Good example tracks as well. Now you only need a program icon. ;) (a bigger thing to improve upon: the bilinear filtering for higher GUI sizes)

I remember getting a early beta from Pink/Abyss at TP94 (or 95). And out of the blue, a Windows version! Love it!

der Pinky (und der Brain) still alive and kicking, good news.

I really love it so far. Is it a Bug that the Equ-Bars don't scale in GUI Wide Mode?
Very cool. Sounds like a 16 Bit C64 :P

This will keep me busy for a looong time :)

Nice work !

really nice work! out of curiosity, what did you use as windows tool GUI? ( imgui, other?)
rulez added on the 2019-05-12 13:30:35 by leonard leonard
Any particular reason why the replayer is only supplied as binary? It was pretty annoying in THX/AHX times already (certain comments in my sources speak volumes...) and in 2019 I really don't understand it.

Thanks Leonard. ImGui would have been a wise choice, but i didn't know about when i started the tracker. So i just made the gui on my own with SDL as backend. In the end its just drawing a few quads and pass a mouse message down the items :)

A version for Amiga, Linux, or one that could be made to work with Wine would be highly appreciated!

Love this tool so much :-) If you want to add a couple more source files to the examples folder, feel free to add these two in: http://ctrix.net/32kb/Amiga/ (both are "long precalc" tracks which go pretty deep in the sound design hole)

Fantastic songs cTrix! Very cool instrument ideas.

'Flash wave' sounds like a proper and cool protracker tune.
'Break your limits' made me thing of a speech sample in the beginning :)

I will add them to the next release. Thanks!

I just started my first PreTracker-song, so I'm just scratching the surface. But I can already tell that this is a quality piece of software, and I really like it. Thanks for the effort!

Really cool stuff and I fully agree with StingRay. It's 2019, no need for binary blobs.

I love this tracker, is amazing how you can make nice sounds with low mem usage. The only thing I miss, is a chord generator, to have a 3 or 4 notes chord on one channel (with a pre-calculated sample of course), because I am not really fan of arpeggios chords.

Now I see there is a chord generator, sorry haha

It doesn't sound so bad to me when I use the Wine version bundled with Lutris. Someone should make a yt capture from real Windows so we can compare.

What a beautiful program!! Simple, honest, classic - a joy to use and I've only just started!! I have so much to learn about Amiga chiptune it seems- all this time I've been assuming the synth instruments were basically just super short samples. Oops. 😅💙👍

Awesome! After trying different versions of ahx (and derivatives) I finally managed to get this to run on my Ubuntu box using wine. The demo tunes sound so real :)
