Q.: "20th Anniversary"?! Has it really been *that* long ago already?!
A.: I'm afraid so :(
Q.: Have the demos been "remastered" in any way?
A.: No. You're seeing them exactly as they were shown in the compos 10 and
20 years ago, albeit on a slightly better screen (which we make up for by
simulating the original screen's pixel grid - you're welcome!) and with a
smoother framerate in a few scenes.
The audio is substantially improved however, as this release contains the
original full-bandwidth stereo MP3s instead of 16 kHz mono ADPCM renditions.
Q.: Where are the binaries for the actual hardware?
A.: Not in this package - the Anniversary Edition is PC-only.
If you really have a first-gen iPod nano with iPodLinux on it
(which is not something you can easily get, as the iPodLinux website,
along with all its downloads, vanished half a decade ago), you can
simply install the original releases of the two demos on it:

Q.: What's up with this nonsense boot animation and the "Reboot" menu item?
A.: That's an almost pixel-perfect recreation of what it looks like on a real
device after turning it on. It has been sped up a bit and the Apple logo
has been replaced by something else for copyright reasons, but other
than that, it's the real deal. The main menu is also something that existed
back in the day; it's a bespoke menu system KeyJ wrote to launch the
demo(s).
Q.: That startup zoom animation looks nice - can I zoom out again later?
A.: Yes, you can. Use the [,]/[.] or [-]/[+] keys to control zoom.
Q.: Can I get the sources?
A.: There's a suspiciously-named script called "get_sources.py" in the archive;
if you run that (using Python ~3.10 or later), the sources will appear,
seemingly out of thin air. Magic! ;)
