C stands for colors :)
This is version 2.3F with several added features:
1. Coloring the pattern view based on the sample number.
2. Varying the brightness of the sample number column for improved readability.
3. True blank-zero.
In addition, version 2.3FC fixes some bugs in version 2.3F:
1. The SPREAD function in the gradient color settings setup now works.
2. Correct loading of 100-pattern modules.
The Pattern Coloring by Sample Color feature allows you to change the color of
any sample in the Pattern View. By default, all samples use the default color,
which is the color of sample number 0. Attempting to change the pattern text
color for samples with numbers greater than 0 will only change the color of
that specific sample.
This functionality is designed so that ProTracker behaves identically to the
standard versions until you specify a color change.
When you save a module, the color information is also saved. Sample colors are
saved at the end of the module file and do not break compatibility with the
standard module.
To remove color information, save the module after clearing the color
information using CLEAR -> [SHIFT] + SAMPLES. Loading a new module without
first clearing the color information retains the current colors. This allows
you to create empty modules containing color templates.
For example, the templates directory contains empty modules containing
palettes. You can load such a template and then load any module without color
information. The colors from the template will be transferred to the loaded
module. The templates directory also contains PT23FC_Color_Tester. This module,
without color information, contains a pattern that uses all 32 samples in the
first eight positions, allowing you to see the current palette in its entirety.
They may not be killer features, but they certainly aren't memory killer
features. The amount of available memory is reduced by only 13 KB.
They may not be killer features, but they can certainly make ProTracker on the
Amiga an even better graphics program.
Keyboard shortcuts:
SHIFT + C - copy sample color
SHIFT + V - paste sample color
SHIFT + CLEAR -> SAMPLES - remove all sample colors
CLEAR -> ALL - remove all (including color information)
SHIFT + DEF in SETUP - clear current sample color to default
(sample 0 color, color loaded from PT.CONF)
Color sliders (8-th color) - change color of current sample
Known Issues
1. In CIA mode, graphics updates in ProTracker are asynchronous to the refresh
rate. This is likely the cause of slight, intermittent flickering. The color
information is out of sync with the text position. In VBLANK mode, everything
works fine. A likely solution to this problem would be to separate graphics
updates from the player.
2. ProTracker replaces the graphics with the content of the next pattern
at the last position of the previous pattern, which is also a type of glitch.
If we only updated the graphics at the moment of a line change, the problem
would disappear.
