- Atari Falcon030, 14MB, TOS 4.04, RGB monitor
..About:...................... .. . .
This little 4ktro is what we call a 12-Bit RGB Splitter.
In fact, it separates a picture consisting of 16 grey-
scales into its red, green and blue shares and displays
them spread over different lines while the whole object
moves. The number 12-bit is derived from the way pixel
information is separated which leads to a red-layer of
4 bit depth, a green-layer of 4 bit depth and a blue
layer of 4 bit depth, resulting in 12-bit total colour
information.
Some additional remark shall be done on the picture
size. The size of the picture being split results from
the size-limit this effect was supposed to fulfilled,
meaning, the picture was chosen in a way that the limit
of 4kb in total could be reached. The effect is actually
capable of working with a picture of 160 x 328 pixels.
To see the full potential of this routine, you will
most probably see a re-release of this effect using
a rather large graphic.
