deNextPlayer is a lightweight player for the main music formats
(SQT, STC, STP, PT2, PT3, TS, TFC) with support for TurboSound
and TurboSound FM, designed for the ZX Spectrum 48.
It was created as a result of refactoring and optimizing the
code of NextPlayer, written by Miroslav Bursa for the FPGA-
emulator known as ZX Spectrum Next.
Program:
+ Runs on ZX Spectrum 48;
+ Disables turbo mode if launched on ZX Evolution;
+ The interface and navigation have been completely rewritten
and significantly sped up;
+ Keyboard polling has been reworked; there is a delay after
the first keypress;
+ If playback is interrupted by Break, it returns to the same
file in the catalog;
+ Software-switches the stereo mode between ABC and ACB;
+ Added an amplitude filter useful when playing TurboSound;
+ Restored the copyright notices of the player authors and
the AY-handling code;
+ Fixed a crazy number of bugs and neural slop.
TR-DOS:
+ Supports TR-DOS with error handling
(catalog up to 128 files);
+ Extensions can be either three-character
(pt2, pt3, stc, stp, sqt) or standard (M, C);
+ Extension filtering is now case-insensitive;
+ Switching between disk drives with handling
of a missing disk;
Players:
+ Added a player for tfc files on TurboSound FM;
+ Detects TurboSound and TurboSound FM at startup
and displays an info line;
+ The Sound Tracker and Sound Tracker Pro players
have been merged into one;
+ Plays most AlCo TS (e.g. IG #11, unlike The Viewer);
+ tfc files are played only if TS FM is present;
otherwise a message is shown;
+ Stereo mode is disabled for TurboSound FM because it
is useless for this format;
+ The tables for the VTPL, stc, and stp players were
identical and have been merged into one;
+ Added output of the 80-character tfc fields
(track title, author) and the 120-character comment;
Analyzer:
+ The analyzer has become more sensitive, and its
palette is clearer;
+ A summing analyzer of the SSG and FM registers of
both YM2203 chips (a first for TS FM);
+ One width for all formats (including TS and TS FM);
+ Added blue color for peaks (shows the envelope well);
+ Added a jitter type "slow breathing."
