                                 JESTERday demo

Written by Mac Sys Data of Persistence Of Vision
                            Released December 1999
                             http://pov.atari.org

All music by Jester of Sanity
Original demo released on Amiga in 1992
This version is for the Atari Falcon 030 on VGA or RGB

This demo was made with the full consent of Jester

Known bugs...

1) When switching to a new mod, some strange sounds can be heard. I don't
know why this happens as I reset the sound system and restart the mod
routine everytime. I think it has something to do with the DSP code.

2) The demo bombs out now and again seemingly randomly on the main menu.
The demo does not stop but a couple of bombs appear - just restart the
demo when this happens.

Part of original Amiga scroll text has been included here.

`DAZZLER` IS A BUMPY DISCO TUNE TO GET YOU IN THE RIGHT MOOD FOR THIS
PRODUCTION. ALL INSTRUMENTS WERE SAMPLED FROM A SOUND CD. IT IS A RATHER
BASIC SONG BUT WHO CARES AS LONG AS IT TAKES POSSESSION OF YOUR FEET ?!

`MY GLAMOROUS LIFE` IS 100 PERCENT OF MERCILESS DISCO ECSTASY WITH BASHING
DRUMS SAMPLED FROM A TWELVE INCH MIX OF `YOU SPIN ME ROUND` BY DEAD OR ALIVE
PLUS SOME NICE SPEECHIES TAKEN FROM THE ERASURE ALBUM `WILD` AND FROM
FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD`S `WELCOME TO THE PLEASUREDOME` CD WHILE TWO TINY
SYNTH NOISES WERE SAMPLED FROM KOTO. MOREOVER THERE ARE PIANO CHORDS, A PAN
AND A BRASS FROM MY TG33. THIS PIECE IS TO EXPRESS GLORY, FREEDOM AND ENERGY
SO TURN UP THAT BASS! WATCH OUT FOR THE FAST SYNTH SOLO AT THE END
- IT`S UPLIFTING ......

`WIZARDRY` TOOK ABOUT 3 MONTHS TO GET FINISHED FOR I ALWAYS FOUND SOMETHING
TO ADD OR TO CHANGE. ALL SAMPLES ON THIS PIECE WERE DONE BY ME, FROM A ROLAND
D10 AS WELL AS FROM THE PET SHOP BOYS 12 INCH OF `JEALOUSY`

`STAGEBOX REMIX` IS A NEW VERSION OF A SONG THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN RELEASED IN
OUR `SANITY IS DEAD` DEMO SOME TIME AGO. UNFORTUNATELY THERE WAS AN ERROR
IN THE REPLAY SO SOMETIMES THE TUNE COLLAPSED. THIS REMIX FEATURES A
COMPLETELY NEW SAX WHICH IS A MIX OF TWO SOUNDS - FROM THE TG33 AND THE
PSR400 - AND I LIKE IT MUCH BETTER THAN THE OLD ONE FOR THIS ONE IS LIKE
A SCREAMING BABY! HERE THE DRUMS WERE SAMPLED FROM THE ALBUM `LICENSED TO
ILL` BY THE BEASTIE BOYS WHILE THE SAX WAS MIXED WITH SOUNDS FROM THE TG33
AND THE PSR400 BY YAMAHA. THE SPEECHY WAS STOLEN FROM `BEAT DIS` BY BOMB
THE BASS, SOME FX TAKEN FROM THE ROLAND D10.

`BREATH OF LIFE` IS A RATHER NEW TUNE WHICH IS SPLIT IN THREE DIFFERENT
PARTS. THE FIRST ONE IS SLOW AND MOODY IN ORDER TO LET YOU RELAX WHILE
IN THE SECOND ONE I TURN FROM JESTER TO JAZZTER - JUST HEAR IT.
FINALLY THERE`S SOME MORE FAST DISCO STUFF WHICH IS OBLIGATE FOR ME!

FINALLY WE HAVE `NAZGUL` WHICH IS A BIT OF A BREAK FROM THE NORM.
ALL SAMPLES WERE TAKEN FROM MY YAMAHA TG33, A DEPECHE MODE AND AN ART
OF NOISE TWELVE INCH RECORD. I WOULD CALL THIS TUNE DEPRESSED TECHNO
OR PROBABLY SOME KIND OF FUSION OF TECHNO AND NEW WAVE. HOWEVER THE
SONG WASN`T WRITTEN WITHOUT ANY REASON FOR IT IS TO DESCRIBE THE BLACK
RIDERS OR `NAZGUL` FROM THE ULTIMATE FANTASY TRILOGY `THE LORD OF THE
RINGS` BY J.R.R. TOLKIEN
