In the last thrilling installment of '128 Byte Intros With RG' TV's Robin Cook
waxed lyrical about all things small and hairy. He also compiled a list of the
most famous people who shared his surname. Unfortunately, there was one notable
omission; Norman 'Fatboy Slim' Cook.
A tired and emotional Cook besieged Reservoir Gods HQ with a constant battering
of saucy seaside postcards from his Brighton hometown. Unwilling to bow to such
pressure, we immediately let him compose the introductory text for our new
intro.

The Guest Introduction

After being shockingly ommited from a recent list of most famous Cooks I have
fortunately been granted the opportunity to add to my infamy by talking about my
specialist topic: Pasta.
When I was a member of top 80s indie band, The Housemartins, I would frequently
have to leave my bass playing duties to prepare food for the other lads.
My speciality was naturally pasta, a food stuff that fitted perfectly with the
radical left wing image of the band. Single handedly my pasta helped the miner's
strike, brought down Thatcher and contributed to worldwide peace in Brighton.
For Beats International I briefly switched to egg whisk duties, but this proved
to be less popular. I was appalled by the food served by our local inns and
public houses - their pasta was both soggy and undercooked ( no pun inteneded! )
For this reason I wrote the plea to publicans everywhere - "Pub Be Good To Me"
a global smash hit need I say!
I still felt that my message about Pasta cooking was not reaching the wider
populous. For this reason I formed 'Freakpower', a name inspired by the
irregular service provided to Brighton by the local electricity company.
Our smash hit 'Turn On, Boil Up and Serve Out' helped people understand the
concepts behind real pasta cooking.
My next pseudonym was a cunning reference to the dichotomy of pasta eating.
On the one hand if you just sucked on one strand of the edible dough you could
keep a nice trim Richard Ashcroft style frame. But if you stuffed every orifice
with the wormlike material you would end up bulging out everywhere like a
pregnant Melvyn Bragg. Hence, 'Fatboy Slim'.
So it's now time for my top references to Pasta in contemporary culture.
