                                VERSION 1.09
                      BY STGHOST/SECTOR ONE (C)1995-2004

Here is the last release of the DBE TRACKER, a new soundtracker for ST
and PC. It runs on all ATARI computers with a DMA chip. Yes, there are 32
voices on STE (of course, the quality suffers a lot). Speed cards are not
automatically recognized but is possible to force higher-speed routines.

In this version, you can load soundtracks, load & save samples. It is pos-
sible to edit patterns. Many functions and options are not finished (MIDI,
some samples functions...)
As you are registered, you can save soundtracks and you will receive all
new releases (please send back this disk).

File formats recognized in this version:
*Load and unpack(Atomik 3.5, Ice 2.4, Speed PAcker 3, Lzh, Arj, Zip) the
 followings formats: MOD, S3M, 669, MTM, MGM(0.93 & 0.94), MGT(1.1) and DBT.
Note: it is possible to load PMD3-packed files if they are re-packed...
Also loads DTM, GTK(type 1), and XM formats if unpacked.
Important:-Now ZIP decrunch is reliable ! (only stored and deflated files)
-Arj decrunch updated for ARJ 9.97 (0,1,2,3,4,7 modus accepted)
-Can load PMD3 soundtracks if packed with another packer.
*Loads samples: SPL, AVR 8 bits mono/stereo, WAV 8 bits
*Save samples: SPL, AVR and WAV all in 8 bits resolution
*Save soundtracks in DBT,MOD,S3M & DTM formats (registered version)

  Some remarks:
-sound quality depends on 680x0 speed and the number of voices. On Falcon,
the DSP is now used: it is possible to control volume/balance/echo/reverb
  in preference menu.
-the fileselector is not finished. No file-gestion function implemented ex-
cept DELETE. Only LOAD and SAVE are active. Display is sorted alphabetical-
  ly.
-it is possible to read a soundtrack in an ARJ/LZH or ZIP archive
-Midi will be supported in input and OUTPUT
-PC keyboards are recognized: parenthesis replaced by Page Up/Down on numeric
  pad.
-accept CD-ROM drives (if driver installed) and corrects a bug found on many
  CDs (no subdirectory exit)
-doesn't accept doubly packed files (packed and archived or an archive into
another one) except for PMD3 pattern-packing.
-no longer bugs in case of floppy disk errors.
-MUTE-SOLO-ON/OFF buttons debugged in case of USER SWAP
-some behaviour bugs removed in effects
 -saves preferences
-keeps 3 paths for tracks, samples and songs.
-Return key now debugged in pattern-editor

About the DBE TRACKER
---------------------

It is a 32 voices soundtracker. You can use 255 8bits samples (and 16bits
in a special Falcon release if I get enough money). You can use up to 255
patterns.
Of course, such possibilities would consume too much memory ! So I used a
special method: the number of patterns can only be increased by 1 at a time
(limited by available memory) in order to keep as much free memory as possi-
ble. To add a pattern, use the second line from the top in the left-hand cor-
ner (called PATTERN...): clic +/- buttons or clic the number to set it your-
self. With this last method, you can enter a number from 0 to the number of
the first non-existing pattern (included) which will be created then. It is
a bit easier for samples: there is always a free sample-slot for a new sample
(if you load a 31 samples MOD, you can access sample number 32), select it
and load a new sample or set a nonzero size or name to create it (a new slot
is added automatically).
The sampleselection uses the numeric pad: 0 subs 16 and . adds 16 to the
curent sample number, other keys defines the hexadecimal unit of the number
(Enter=0) (it nearly works like Protracker but extended to more than 31).
Pattern entries are shown like this: NNN VV IIEEPP
where NNN is the note from C_0 to B_5 (--- if no note)
VV is the volume: 00 to $40 sets volume
                            $41 to $7f reserved
$80 to $ff no change (-- on screen)
II is the sample number (0=no change)
          EE is the effect
PP is the parameter of the effect

Only Protracker effects are included but I will add some ones soon. The
only difference is for extended effects: Exy becomes 1x0y. As it is possible
to use samples bigger than 64Kb, effect 9 has been extended from $80 to $ff

Read DBT1EKBD.TXT for keyboard functions and short-cuts.

I hope you'll like this soundtracker. Write to me if you have suggestions,
if you find a bug, if you want to register or for module swapping...

Warning: some options don't react in this soundtracker because they are not
finished, it is not a bug !

Note: in the fileselector, the SAVE NEW button is not used because it is pos-
sible to clic filename field and enter new name then just clic SAVE FILE (see
short-cuts).
