Epilepsy Warning
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
A very small percentage of individuals may experience epileptic seizures
when exposed to certain patterns or flashing lights. Exposure to certain
light patterns or backgrounds on a television screen or while playing
video games or while watching a demo may induce an epileptic seizure in
these individuals. Certain conditions may induce epileptic symptoms
even in persons who have no prior history of seizures or epilepsy.
If you, or anyone in your family, has an epileptic condition,
consult your physician prior to playing. If you experience any of the
following symptoms while playing a video game or while watching a demo:
dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitches, loss of awareness,
disorientation, any involuntary movement, or convulsions, IMMEDIATELY
discontinue use and consult your physician before resuming play.

Legal Stuff
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
YOU MUST READ THE FILE NAMED LICENSE.TXT BEFORE RUNNING PROGRAM
This is provided free because I am a nice guy. That means I do not want
any trouble for it, and I don't want any money either.
If you want to pay me in some way you can give the program to everyone
you know. Another way of paying me is to send me e-mail.
BUT it is NOT freeware. Apart from what is needed to run the
program you can not disassemble it, or use the datafiles from it
without written and signed permission from the author (Tommy D.BK).
Private persons may not take money for this product,
but it may be included on a CD-compilation for money,
so long as all the original files are included, and none are changed.
You are encouraged to distribute this on BBS, FTP, WWW, CDROM, and disk!

System Requirements
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
Minimum: 486 DX 33mhz (SX might work)
                      VGA Screen & display adapter.
At least DOS 3.0, probably higher.
Mouse & mousedriver must be loaded.
ANSI.SYS must be loaded in CONFIG.SYS

Recommended: Pentium 100mhz or better.
                      A 512K GUS soundcard.
                      A fast graphics card.

You _definatly_ need 200K free upper memory, probably quite a lot more.
And some extended memory as well, I guess.
This time I have not used any ANSI-escape codes or colours,
so you really shouldn't need ANSI.SYS loaded, but for some insane
reason it refuses to scroll upward in the text without ANSI.SYS...
And I use a totally normal video-interrupt for scrolling upward,
no ANSI-stuff... Hmmmm.. This really puzzles me...
In theory, there is a small chance you might be able to make this run on
your 386, but I wouldn't try it, if I were you...
That's right, the _recommended_ system requirements have been lowered
since version 2! That's because this version is coded better and because
I went a bit over the top with the last version.
It is a DOS-program, but it should work under Windows 95,
but you must use the supplied .PIF-file for it to work properly.
It will theoretically work in a window, but I strongly recommend that you
*DON'T* try this. I discourage using it under Windows'95,
as the program performs poorer under Windows'95.
You *must* also have a mousedriver loaded, otherwise this program is useless!
If you attempt to run it without any mouse-driver loaded,
you will have to reboot.

Usage
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ

Type DSSK3 at the command line from the directory you have it in,
and press ENTER. When you've got the main menu up on the screen
you may select a section by left-clicking it's name with your mouse.
When you have done this, you will get a text-reader
up on your screen. The text reader can be navigated with these keys:

Home - Will take you to the start of the document.
Arrow-Keys - Up and down arrows may be used to scroll the screen up
             or down by one line.
PageDown - Will show you the next screenlength of text.
Esc - Will exit the text, and bring you back to the main menu.

ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ

Please mail me with your comments about DSSK3, or to talk about the scene,
if you are a newbie with questions, a pro with answers :),
or anything else for that matter! I love mail!
You can also leave a message for me at CountZero BBS
(see resources-section of DSSK3 for number), but it would be
more reliable to send an e-mail as I check that *much* more often.
Here are my two Internet e-mail addresses (the first is more reliable):

Changes since v.2.0
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ

This version has a much better interface, and a better text-reader.
Yes, the previous interface was *very* bad.. ;)
The code is much better, and the text is slightly better, sorta thing.
It has finally reached the stage where I'm close to being quite pleased
with it. All the sections have been improved,
and one section (Interviews) has been added, giving it the 'edge' it needed.
It has a new (better), and more graphically pleasing menu-system,
the text-reader works properly, and the files are mostly bigger,
with fewer typo's.
Thanks to the Midas Sound System, DSSK now supports multiple soundcards!
Yippi! You still get best sound with GUS, though.
It has been tested with a 100% SBPRO compatible Aztech soundcard,
and a 512K GUS ACE, and NoSound.

Other Info
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ

Now let's talk about the goal of this program..
If you are already familiar with the DemoScene, the goal of this
program is to give you more information and resources,
and maybe tell you a few things you didn't know from before.
If you are a member of the 3Dfx screensaver-scene the goal of this program
is frankly to recruit you into the demoscene.
If you are a total newbie, the goal of this program is to give
you enough information to be able to act as a spreader,
ultimately going on to beeing a coder, or something else.
This is my third ever official scene-production, so I guess I'd better stop
asking people to go easy on me.
Special thanks to everyone who were interviewed,
and also to Pearl Hunter, who made music, in spite of having left Utopia.
I haven't found any big bugs in this program that would make it crash.
However, if the program does crash, it probably can be solved by
freeing up a bit more RAM. There might be a few small bugs,
but I don't think there are any real beasties..
This may very well be the last version of DSSK.
I might make another version, or I might continue it as a part of my
upcoming-homepage. I'll be making demos, intros,
and individual tutorials instead.
That is, unless everyone goes spare telling me how brilliant DSSK3 is. ;)

This became a HiPPY COMMUNE PRODUCTiON after I saw and read the text
of the Wired'97 Invitation Intro/game..
HiPPY COMMUNE PRODUCTiONS is Statix's baby.
He lets anyone who wants to, use this 'demoscene-label'.
He claims no power over it. So if you've got a cool production,
why not do like me, and make it a HiPPY COMMUNE PRODUCTiON?
Good idea Statix. Bursting the boundries of group-politics. I like it.

I'd also like to mention that Utopia is looking for a graphician to do
pixel-by-pixel gfx for our productions, so if you're interested in joining
Utopia as a graphician you can mail me with samples of your work.
We're actually basically still recruiting all sorts of members:
coders, graphicians, and musicians.

Greets are in the program.
Hope I remembered you all.
