Running MEGA.EXE will present you with the Cube-O-Matic (TM) which can be
controlled via the LEFT, RIGHT and ENTER keys. The Cube-O-Matic (TM) is
programmed to configure your sound-system, activate or deactivate Movie-Mode,
Execute the Demo or Exit to dos.
Movie Mode enables a self-run feature which will guide you through your
Alternate Reality exploring 40 of the 64 rooms available to you. To see the
entire collection of graphical demonstrations, you'll need to face Reality
and find them on your own. A map is provided (the room to your immediate right
at the start) to help you guide yourself.
While viewing any of the demos in manual-control, press the [ESC] key
to leave the room. Some have keys you can press to control the effects..
(the arrow keys usually). Some demos may throw you out after a while anyway...

Here is a bunch of stuff that we probably forgot to put in the various scroll-
texts through out the demo... Read it!! It may be interesting to say the least!
BTW, this text was purposely formatted so. Thus there are no unwanted errors.

Thanks to Oman [of ??] for the intro DDD logo :) Coincidentally greets to your
roommate, Tran and Ink the social one.

Thanks to PathMark for the lots of BLUE!!!
Thanks to GraveDigger [Hornet], the guy who let us capture his face and use it
in the swirl room.
Thanks to Tumbling [B.I.M] who let us derange and distort his face in our
SquishTro..
Greets to the people we met on the way to and at Canada...

Here are some facts of interest about the demo:

Yes, the setup cube DOES have 8 sides!!!!!! (2 for top/bottom..rest for side)
The pink zooming mandelbrot fractal is 100% real time 160x100 mode x.
The palette-animated wormhole is MOVING realtime also!!
The screen with the interactive mandelbrot fractal is also real time of course.
The Deluxe Paint plasma was inspired from an Amiga demo :)
The 3D galaxy effect is made up of 1024 shade bobs ..and some stars
The core dump effect consists of 256 4 vertexed :) polys in 16color mode
The 3D waving scroller (red and gold letters) is made up of 358 square polys
The room with the TRUE SOLID blue cube with D's around it is a 3D solid cube
with dimensions 16x16x16

Lots and lots of lines of code that we couldn't care to count..and lots of
packed grafix and stuff..
The demo runs in REAL mode and so your 600kb of memory is VERY important!!!!
Does not use EMM or XMS or anything like that.. just low memory.
The demo does use 32bit intructions though, so you do need a 386 and above cpu.
                         - ─────────────────── -
All my full screen piccys were drawn mostly in Autodesk Animator... btw the END picture (rendered by not me) was put in there AGAINST my will... :(
I dislike DP since the mouse response is too fast and the stupid F10 border!!
argh.. I don't like using the keyboard when I draw!
The girl i scanned from a ManOwaR album, but i had to recolorize it and touch it
up quite a bit to get it to look like it does.
I like dark colors so you idiots with monitors on which i can see the overscan
(so bright that the overscan looks grey instead of black), turn down the
brightness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here I want to greet Destop [Amiga] for putting his cool little messge "You
shouldn't see this. Turn the brightness down!!!" in his ?ASM? '94 artwork ;)
Sorry no hard to see messages in the grafix this time... ..maybe in SquishTro :)
Could YOU tell it is a can of Pepsi ??? Many couldn't tell....
Sorry i don't drink artificial liquids too often, so Pepsi is not my favorite
drink, and thus I don't endorse it!! I like orange juice.
But the rest of the DDD guys love BLUE from PathMark!! What??? You don't know
what BLUE is?? Just visit your local PathMark! (that's an endorsement!!) It's an endorsement since Aqualung (2b toxicologist) could not find any harmful chemicals in BLUE!!!!! He might release a demo with some BLUE in it ;)

The demo might seem to be going fast or going through hidden walls and illegal
shit like that with Movie Mode ON, because we were trying to make the 20 minute
run-time-deadline at NAID '95. Of course we didn't know how fast it would run
on their 80Mhz ..and so the timings were based on Pure Evil's borrowed 486-40mhz
ISA Trident-vid.crap.card, and a borrowed GUS....
He is currently coding a game and so if you want to send any donations, he
could really use them!!!! (by this time, Jude the Repoman has come and
repossessed all his equipment from Pure Evil, and now PE is using his brother's
386-40mhz which is so slow when compiling with Watcom!! so please send any
donations and we will send you the unreleased REPO intro ;)
                         - ─────────────────── -
Also the main part of the demo is NOT a Wolf-engine, because unless you are
blind the walls are paper-thin. The reason is that we tried to make the engine
as close as possible to the original Atari 8bit game from which we got the
concept and map for the demo: Alternate Reality by Philip Price. You can read
more about that on the credits screen in the demo.. But I might as well tell
you that the game engine was better than Eye Of The Beholder type engines and
on an 8bit cpu with no mul's or div's and as much memory as a TI-85 calculator!
                         - ─────────────────── -

Anyways enough junk ... I am sure i forgot a lot of stuff to mention..but what
is the point anyways?? We will all be deceased soon... this whole damn place suxx.. why do good times in life seem be like a quick flicker of candle light in the cold, damp, decrepit dungeon of humanity....
Hope you enjoy the megademo .. fool around with the keys and if you want to
leave us comments use my email address at the bottom of this file....
