Zero (Acorn) by The Nutters

--------------------------
       Zero/Nutters
     SA 16mb 2mb VRAM
  We hope you understand
--------------------------

This demo was due for release at Revelation 98, however, at the time of
writing, we are unsure if the competition is actually going to happen...
Zero represents 3 months solid work (although technically it's around 1
year's work as much of the preliminary coding began on the PC soon after we
completed Fluoro). We hope you understand it...

The demo requires 320x480 in 16 million colours at 60hz. We have supplied a
suitable monitor definition file if you don't have the mode on your RPC. The
demo will *refuse* to run in anything but 320x480x16mx60hz (the reason being
that the demo is synced to the music something chronic and running it in 75hz
modes screws up all the timings)..

Special Nutters thanks to:
--------------------------

Saint - for the StrongArm dev-kit. :)
Ewan - for the spikey-ball mesh.. All 3800 polygons of it! :)

We don't feel that Fluoro really reflected what we really are about. Zero is
a much better representation..
Many of the influences of this demo originate on the PC (specifically the
works of Statix - 303, Square and Bleam) where design and style is quite
simply in a different league... Also watching too much Board Stupid and too
many Coldcut/Hex videos didn't help either. :)

Some technical details about Zero:
----------------------------------

The tunnel is free-directional raytracing...

The environment-mapped spikey-ball consists of 3800 polygons...

The water is real-time bump-mapped to make it look so lovely...

The particle routines all look lovely (especially the ones with lensflare)...

Yes, the blobbing metaballs *are* realtime and not some cunning bodge...

The 3D engine behind Zero is a total rewrite of the Fluoro engine and during
trials, manipulated an 8000 polygon human head, light-sourced texture-mapped
at around 10fps...

Zero will be the last Nutters demo on the Risc PC.. We hope you like it...
