My apologies

category: general [glöplog]
my original idea was that you wouldnt be able to "change" it as such, more like "re-vote" with a new comment.

Or even easier: just let vote and comment again, and just get the last vote by user... But it would be a problem with the current system with the pigs on comments on already voted...

It would make no sense and total break the consistency of the comments on the pages over the year, besides being a new toy for pouet.

Having only one vote also forces people to vote more wisely and with care, somehow. The whole concept of revoting just makes no sense and render the concept of voting just pointless.

watch your mouth, canadian.

but i agree. perhaps better off with keeping things the way they are. if you so desperately want to reflect your change of mind, just place another comment. its not like those thumbratios hold that much value -- or at least i wouldn't think so.

Would be a very bad idea imo and yet another toy for trolls... Pouet has real issues to fix, it would be better to focus on those instead ;)

I think the same that keops. And we already have coups de coeur so you could put one on tube if you wish! :)

i roger-roger keops' statement.. thumb ratios will become more meaningless if they turn all flexible.. not to mention the fun to be had with:

i like it.. *up*
no i dont like it *down*
i like it.. *up*
no i dont like it *down*
etc..

so is the "shit", though.

One idea: You could allow the user to give as many thumbs as he wants, but compute the average of all the ratings. This way, the user could, for instance, first rate one aspect of the production, give it the thumb, then, in the next posting, rate another aspect and give it a thumb. The effect would be a fairer rating. E.g. if you give a production three thumbs up for graphics, animation and code and one thumb down for music, you would have an effective rating of (3*1 + 1*(-1)) / 4 = 2 / 4 = 0.5.

But, as a more general note, I'd suggest that people should back up their ratings with arguments instead of just thumbing up or down.

What about putting the new comment under their old one, so you could add an update to your old comment with the new thumb.

E.g:

I fucking hate this demo it's so unrelentingly weak
Update 22/12/08: Actually I was wrong, this is awesome! BB Image

i think it's a cool feature to have the ability to change your vote, as long the old one is archived.
in short : what Insectecutor said.
Also:

i think the misuse and trolling potential would be minimal that way.
