kindergarden 2009

category: general [glöplog]
@Dbug: There's wild, and there's also the option of persuading the compo organizer to allow other platforms. Both options are highly likely to result in success :)

lug00ber: 2009 is the 20th anniversary of the Atari STe; and there are already two STe demos in the plans for Kindergarden, one from Nerve; the second from me.

Not sure if anyone else is preparing anything; but at least there should be some stuff. So; who should I contact exactly? I prefer to participate in a combined compo with PC's and Amigas (even if it means to be crushed), instead of being in the Wild category. Done that with my Oric demos for years, kind of suck :p

lug00ber: also, you should have tried to push the xhtml-button on the bottom before launching :)

hey, certain people from the uk were considering the possibility of attending - supposing those people were arriving at oslo airport on friday and departing sunday, would there be anybody passing by the airport who might be willing to give those people a lift? :) or is there another fast way to get there that doesnt involve catching a sequence of 17 different trains? :)

lug00ber: you only fixed the front-page... you need to use "<" instead of "<" in the title :)

smash: The normal train route consist of two trains, and it's pretty much the only option apart from getting a lift (or sharing a cab). The drive is about 30 minutes IIRC.

I know I didn't answer the most important part of your question; I don't have a car (or a driver's license for that matter).

kusma: sharing a cab would be an option - any idea how much it would cost from the main oslo airport to the party place?

smash, you traitor!
ok, that's that: i'm coming!

for other dutchos: norwegian.no offers return tickets amsterdam <-> oslo (gardermoen) at 91 euros, including taxes, credit card fee and one piece of check-in baggage. you should come too!

smash: My best guess would be about 500 NOK (~50 GBP). Considering that a one-way-trip by train is a bit more than 100 NOK, it's not THAT bad if you manage to gather 3-5 people.

kusma: £50 is pretty reasonable actually. i was expecting it to be worse - prices in norway are usually pretty steep for people not from countries rich on oil and seal-clubbing. :)

smash: Actually, I think my guess might have been too low. 7-800 NOK is probably more likely. I don't take much long-distance cabs here in Norway ;)

Compo rules have been updated to reflect that we will allow Dbug's STe demo, and also demos on other platforms. This will happen on a strict "bring your own hardware/win32 emulator with config file", and if we run into problems with your hardware because you never gave us a chance to test it with the projector we will disqualify your entry so it can be submitted somewhere else.

best regards,
Top Men
