pffft.. you europeans and americans are a bunch of twats, listen to yourselves. Just get on with the fucking demo making.. show us you new fx. Meanwhile the scene marches on in .au - but not from my lazy arse. We'll dominate all you northern hemisphere cunts eventually.. muuuhahahahaaaaa

xeNusion: now you're beeing plain ridiculous - melwyn stated that he was working on it - he even set up a poll on scene.org.

And as ps stated:

"howhever i do also prefer a non generalistic name, and from the looks of things, to avoid controversy we will most probably change it back to scene.org awards. the poll melwyn set up seems to be pointing into that direction aswell."

so, I'll join smash, how about some stfu?

Wait, people respond to xenusion's trolling for what reason exactly?

Also, 4Sceners best of 2006 is missing a laugh track. 하수구 may be a weird demo, but comparing it to mfx demos is just plain fucking silly.

How is it "trolling" if he's right?
Okay, ignore me, he's only half right.
The "Best Demo" should be "Best Prod.".
"Scene Awards" should be "Scene.org Awards".
I agree with a juri.

That sums up all I've got to say about this issues ;D

All awards should just go to Titan. It is the TITANSCENE after all.

Thing is, you have to be this harsh to get your point through.

And yes, I'm with the group who would like to see the name changed back.

It IS true that "Scene Awards" fits to some extent, since it's the only actual awarding process inside the demoscene, and while other "awards" exist too (see 4roflsceners), this is obviously the most prominent and most important one.

Then again, I simply think that naming it the "Scene Awards" causes the whole thing to lose character. The name "Scene.org Awards" puts an image behind the whole thing, the concept of having this non-profit organization behind a series of awards. It's almost like being sponsored in a way, but then not. In my eyes it kindof creates a sense of unity - but then I might be just romantic :)

Plus I spent ages on writing all the Wikipedia shit about the awards and I'm SO not busting a nut to change all that. Meh. :D

You know what, let's just stick a large foliba on the statue and call it the Tobi. Sounds better than Oscar, really.

Maybe it's time we created a Rant/Whining award...

Given the name "scene.org awards" we all know what to expect when it comes to incestuous juries.

However, I do not understand why people care so much about these "awards" for instance:

ps is all the time complaining about "compo", iirc he more than once stated it would be better to drop the competitions and just have show-offs on bigscreen without voting. Yet he takes this award thingy really seriously.

To others who complain about nominations/juries etc, do like me.. just pretend the scene.org awards never happent. You know, you do not HAVE to like scene.org awards, just like you do not HAVE to love AMIGA.

stefan: please, when you dont know what you're talking about, stfu. awards were melwyns brainchild, i was originally against it, i just got envolved to help out with workload and make sure its an unbiased as can get process.

It doesn't sound like you are force to support it in this thread.

stefan: im not even involved this year. i just responded to xen because i was involved previously, exactly to supervise that no lobbys were occuring and that all platforms were beeing given same importance complying with complaints given to us through the feedback poll thing at the end of the previous years events, and now he's bashing it like we never gave a damn to begin with.. what the fuck were we wasting our time for these past 4 years then? masturbating each other? we got better things to do with our time then to go around giving each other pats in the back.

About the jury..

As a person, and not a scene.org member, I have to say I disagree with plenty enough of the jury decisions from last year myself. As I was part of suggesting and picking jury members, it's really weird disagreeing with the results if I handpicked my close friends/sceners with my exact taste, isn't it? Maybe the reason is simply that we picked with enough variety to show a broad cutout of the minds and taste of the people in the scene?

As a scene.org member, of course I will always support the jury decisions. Why? Because that's the way a scene.org member should behave.

About the name..

As most of the jury aren't even scene.org members, calling it scene.org awards is also misleading, in a way. On the other hand, I don't care too much either way, so changing back is fine by me, at least it sounds better (probably since I'm used to hearing it).

i want to see stefan and xen and tmb pick 20 unbiased people from this earth who:
a) aint their friends
b) are active sceners
c) follow all the platforms or are willing to do so and give it a proper rating
d) belong to different countries
e) belong to different non-demoscene leading groups
f) are rooted on different platforms
g) have enough time to waste 3 months of their lives watching and discussing demos to hear these kind of insults that they're just voting on their/scene.org's friends

no. seriously. FUCK OFF. -_-
