publics choice == jurys choice it seems...

and i guess that means the jury reflects the public in a good way... :)

yeah both dont have a clue :P

you know, publics choice is there just to prevent that kind of comments. if you don't agree with the result, try voting next time :)

although you might have, i don't know, but in that case your opinion is telling yourself off which is a bit weird

xenusion: besides, that lack of a clue got you nominated. so. :)

But they can't be good, because they're popular!

It's a shame that Rob is Jarig isn't in the charts.

http://awards.scene.org/info.php says...
Quote:
Some demos get attention by succeeding at well-known parties, yet others get forgotten because they were released at smaller events or ranked low in competition. So we felt like doing something special -- giving appreciation and respect to deserving demo makers, not limited to any specific country or party, platform or competition.

And in reality the first awards were pretty much that case... But I feel that last year and this year it's pretty much mainstream prods again :/

Also, why just 4 nominees for Best Graphics?

what is kinda strange (well, at least for me) is that the public's choice category is 1) equivalent to the "Best Demo" list 2) is almost the same as the first few entries in this list...

kelsey: I don't see why is that strange. Quite logical if you ask me.

Regarding the 'only the mainstream stuff is being nomitated' topic, well that's again pretty straightforward in the public's choice category (captain obvious on the move :)

As for the best demo, well i agree that the jury could consider nominating other (less-mainstream but still worthy) productions instead of putting the same stuff in as the public's choice. Since this makes one of the categories now a little bit obsolete.
On the other hand if you ditch the mainstream stuff, a lot of mainstream-fans will complain.
Well the thing is, someone will be always bitchin' :)

it's natural that public and jury's choice overlap, cos well, sometimes things are popular because they're good. it can happen. :)

or because the jury is just an average selection from the public..
and sometimes there are things who are much better but just get ignored coz they are released on the wrong platform...

oh yeah that's why we introduced the oldschool category, to forget about other platforms... :)

else, what slummy and smash said :)

or 'worst demo', so i might get an award once too :\
xenusion: name the prods :)

I'm just happy that my nominee, despite not getting in the public mainstream award, is up for an award anyway.

Cuz it deserves it (:
On the other hand, if the nominations of best demo and public's choice were not the same, I'm sure people would throw the "artistic faggotry" card into the fray. Go-go internet rage!

xenusion: i agree with that one :) but how about THIS year's prods?
added on the 2006-03-02 17:04:54 by smash smash
You BEST agree with that one (:

Ikanim should be nominated for the missing scene.org 06 gfx spot, just because it should win a scene.org award and I don't care WHAT category!
How about the Amiga Persecution Complex award?

Funny because it's true and tragic because it's true.
