Why would I like to be able to have multiple youtube links for my prods

category: general [glöplog]
v3nom, groepaz: Gargaj successfully prevented YouTube links from being posted for one of his prods (not sure if any glöperators were involved as well), so you can do it, too.

Made for Experience 2013

Needs shader 3.0 and d3dx9_43.dll

The intro is, in a large part, generative;
feel free to play around with the random seed.

To that end, video rendering of this intro
is explicitly forbidden.

Big thanks to Leia, Reid, Tomoya, Smash,
and especially Statix for reinvigorating
my interest in generative visuals.

Is why there is no YouTube available, I guess.

Why, is it difficult to abstain from capturing? :) Just respect the author's will, it shouldn't bee too hard really...

since when was anal a bad thing?

anyway, i hope you realize that technically you cant even put any of my productions here for download, because you dont have a licence to do that either. ha!

groepaz: well in most comporules it's explicetely stated that your releases will be spread on scene.org and the like.

most comporules have not been written by a lawyer wont stand a test in court, i bet :) and if anything, they will grant the party organisers distribution rights - not everyone and hist grandma. scene.org ftp is not pouet website. technically you might be allowed to download it from scene.org, but not to spread it yourself any further. not that i expect anyone to remotely care, and thats a good thing in my book :)

oh forgot, you cant stream the prod to the internet either, unless you obtained a proper license of course. isn't this copyright nonsense nice? :o)

When you download a demo from a public FTP you're missing the essential experience of getting it via swapping or from a board. Why isn't The Original Hardware Demo Watching Master Race concerned about that at all?
added on the 2015-06-30 08:48:59 by jobe jobe
concerned? no. you'd be surprised how many demos are still spread on floppy disks at parties =)

The point is not really about original hardware. It's about seeing the prod's video output like the author intended. For oldschool PAL stuff, Youtube is nowhere near the real thing, mainly because of the framerate issue. I don't think people would have been impressed by demos in the 90s if it had looked like Youtube.

i find it much more annoying that a lot of people use emulators to do those "captures". that should be forbidden by law :)
added on the 2015-07-01 21:38:49 by groepaz groepaz
^^ Recording from emulators eliminates one stage of a stupid DAC->ADC->DAC chain. I'll take an emulator output over "connect the composite video to a cheap mass-market USB capture dongle" capture in 95% of cases.

Some warez group should release a capture of this.

I take back my apologies about gloperators. At least one of them saw this thread as an opportunity to go through all prods I co-authored and delete any links he or she saw unfit. For one of the prods this includes the video that was actually shown during the wild compo at Revision. Smart move.

I thought this discussion was petty and hateful, I just did not appreciate how much. Thanks for showing your true face, whoever you are.
