Any sceners living in the Darmstadt / Frankfurt area?

Not sure where to start really, I'm making this up as I go!
I'm checking out university courses at the moment and found something that interests me at the Dieburg Mediencampus near Frankfurt / Darmstadt. Is there someone who can tell me a thing or two about living there? Stuff like public transport, renting flats etc. Just to figure out if moving there on short notice would be feasible, if necessary.
Also if I need to travel down there for interviews etc. it'd be nice to meet up with other sceners.
