New Big Beat

category: music [glöplog]
I was growing up listening to bands like:
The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Apollo 440, The Crystal Method...

So I have made New Big Beat FB group:
facebook.com/groups/newbigbeat

My idea is to use modern VSTis and 8bit samples / demoscene synths and put my demo songs on that page and youtube too.

HJB-elements can be definition of "New Big Beat"...

So if you want share your Big Beat songs with me and people from chipmusic.org put links on that FB group.

Matejeusk: never fear to express your ideas, never listen to naysayers and dream crushers.
Ideas are taking the world further.

If "Elements" is "new big beat" then the definition of "new big beat" is "not having an actual big beat"? I understand that BPM is a big part of genre-classification, but it's not the only thing.

Oh, didn´t knew that Elements is a "new big beat track".. I never stop learning. Genere names come and go :)

Closest I can think of as "new big beat" is some of the new Prodigy tracks.

No. Action takes the world forward. Anyone can have "ideas", but they're not worth shit unles you act on them. We've covered this before, so feel free to revisit that thread for a refresher.

As for "Elements" belonging in the big beat-genre.. another solid no. :)

I dont like new prodigy stuff at all...

Old stuff like:
The Prodigy - Skylined
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0g84NsRnIs

The Prodigy - Weather Experience
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Yinw2zjVm8

The Prodigy - Climbatize
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHeVIFF-Yk8

Is much better and it going to be my inspiration for "New Big Beat"...

@Gargaj: When you listen to Charly and Diesel Power you know that they have not same BPM... As official wiki says "drum beats at tempos between 120 to 140 beats per minute"... And yes when you listen to first Big Beat song Big Bang - Cold Night In Cairo you will release that is not Big Beat as we know it. So Elements song can easy fits into "New Big Beat" formula...

@Virgill - Thanks! I am open for any new name. Some people on Chipmusic.Org call it Nu Big Beat... But I dont want give name to genre. When people will call that genre any other word. I will rename group... Just I going to make my music in style I love...

sharing your ideas with others is a kind of 'action' too.
Ideas come first. that's why they're taking the world further.

"Elements" song is how it will sounds... It doesnt needs to fit your old Big Beat ideal. It is how will modern synth big beat sounds like. But enought talking. I am starting my Renoise tracker...

We´d rather call "Elements" nu big black beat, due to the rap vocals ?
Anyway. start tracking and have fun :)

like every other kid in town.
first do it. then if it worked let other people talk.
otherwise you are just tooting your own horn without actual content to back you up.

Ideas are important, sure.

However, what annoys people usually is when somebody throws an idea at you and when you happen to actually do/execute something similar (by pure coincidence) this guy claims: "it was my idea!" (verbally or through lawyers).

And this is not even the worst scenario to happen. Worst-case is if the guy somehow got funding and found labor force = people to implement "his idea", while in reality those people have to actually completely rethink the problem and along the way come up with new ideas that will actually work (as opposed to original proposal) and at the end a-hole is claiming "it was my idea!" and taking majority of profit.

And of course since those scenarios actually tend to happen in rl, please don't be suprised that people will despise you, if you appear to be _that guy_ and you even kind of admit it openly.

1in10: by "you think wrong" i meant "i don't watch ted talks". That's it! :)

So, related to this thread but unrelated to the content: is this what Pouet has become now? I've been inactive for a long time and just recently started to check the forums here again, and.. this is what counts for activity these days? Nonsensical bullshit, trolling and idiots talking out of their ass? Ugh.

Don't be so angry. Maybe Pouet is starting to become popular! :D

- Btw, the only activity that really counts, and you know it, is releasing new stuff. -

classification of music-genres by BPM is just meant as some sort of helper to distinguish btw! It´s no necessarity! I listened to ACID with BPMs going as low as 95 f.e. ;)
Gloom: Man, who peed in your cereal this morning :D
