do you want to try WaveSabre?

[I would happily stand corrected, though, if anyone desires a cigar and a medal for capturing that flag.]

Wow - look what I started!

I’ll just try it out in Renoise instead - Reason is simply the tool I’m most used to since years :)

Haha, well at least it hasn't descended into politics! Bit in all honesty, I'd pick one of the other three DAWs we support rather than renoise. Due to its continued lack of support for plugins which accept multiple audio inputs you can't sidechain with it. I also have plans for other plugins which will need that facility like the vocoder.

(e.g. a note in a pattern) and then watching what changes

Yep, already done this. About half way through the file there is a chuck which states reason song file. After that the entire binary stream is encrypted. The clue here was that I changed one note and that entire block for the rest of the file changes. If it was decrypted the changes would be visible.

Sounds like compression. I don't think they have any good reason to try to use encryption.

especially since everything before that change is still in-tact; with encryption you'd typically see changes everywhere.

I'm toying with the idea to extend it with a (my) more advanced FM engine. From the looks of it it's a very nicely engineered project (which is refreshing in synth-land which is more often than not spaghetti code).

so to bring this back on track..

Massive update for renoise users today.

Side-chain support via MetaPlugin
Instruments can now be routed to specific tracks
If an instrument is routed to a specific track, notes can be in any track
Track headroom is supported (at least we think so!)
Instrument automations can be on any track

get on the slack to pick up the binaries..
