What is the releation between demoscene, chiptune and VGM scene

No matter how scholarly it is, it leans heavily on this totally confused way of using the concept "8 bit" like they do in some chipmusic scenes.

Well, that was quick! :D Confused how, though?

If you're objecting to how some DAW-using musicians invoke '8-bit' or 'chiptune' or whatever to describe music that features sounds which might be reminiscent of the sounds produced by old sound chips, without actually coming from such chips, then that's a bit daft, I think. And I say this as someone who lives and breathes SID composition these days.

Already in the 1980s lots of chiptunes were done with other than 8-bit computers - but often by using the very same soundchips - which highlights the crookedness of speaking about "8-bit timbre" or "8-bit sound" and notions like these are bound to get mixed up with 8-bit (PCM) sound quality which is is a different matter (also related to chiptunes but in a limited sense).
People without a particular interest in understanding technicalities will always use such terms inaccurately, cf. "16-bit graphics".

Gon repeat myself but it's only chiptune if you're headbanging with a gameboy in your head.
And it's demostyle if you're wearing leather pants.

It was probably "in your face" but somehow, it's kind of amusing to picture one dude banging his gameboy with his/her/its head. Do whatever you want with it.
