category: general [glöplog]
gloom: concidering the clientele, it's already attracted the worst lot :P
dominei: so true, so true. :) now; if we could only get some random pornesque stuff from images.google.com, this thread would be complete.

ok :)

This is how people react when you don't release your party version of the prod.
as a party organizer, i'd rather accept a release which is not to be spread for a while, than no release at all.

and concerning madenmann's example #2, here it is!

and as another point, i think you people are also a bit guilty of the fact that demo creators prefer not releasing party versions nowadays. just look at some prods here, many people thumb it down just for the sake of not running on their system, even if stated it's a party version. so it's understandable that creative people don't want this to happen. think about that!

I have. Like I said, feel free to release a final (and bugfree) version any time :)

I can absolutely see your point when it comes to wanting no spread releases rather than no releases at all, but I think if you organisers released all entries anyway, people would start contributing versions that were releasable in the first place.

Now, THAT was one long sentence :)
ppl who thumb-down because of bad hardware can go take a dump. very few makes "perfect" code, its human to make bugs.

IMHO entering a demo in the compo and then refusing to release it because it's still buggy as hell is cheating and unfair to people who do try to get a stable version finished in time or who do take the heat and accept that they get flamed because it crashes on some machines.

Even worse are people who enter a demo, then refuse to release it, and then make it *better* before finally releasing the thing so that people who didn't visit the party get a wrong impression about the competition.

speaking of "take a dump" - those people in that picture looks like they've done something nasty and are smelling the effects of it.

sparcus: while i agree to some extent that releasing a "final" that's very different from the partyversion is bad, please differensiate between a "final" and a "working on more than a few computers"-version. fixing vs. retouching.

I salute you Sparcus. You're on the money.

It's not just cheating, it's simply wrong. However, thanks to the power of teh intarweb, people get slagged well enough for that.

What doesn't help is the fact that organizers can be too kind in that respect. Demo crashes on the compo pc? Bring your own machine for the compo, no worries! If afterwards it would appear that this demo doesn't work on near to no machine at all, who were they doing a favor to begin with?

I think people are taking my point here :) Unreleased entries smell fishy.
If a demo is good enough for the compo pc, then it's also good enough for the scene.

Dear Pilgrimage organizers, I want to remind you that there are still some unreleased prods waiting for us. It's 3 months now... And I don't want to register to <our forum only to post that reminder there. ;)
Hmm, somehow the "y" felt to the side and broke it's "-" away. It's a bad "y"...
The worst thing I experienced about making non-working partyversions is that people never bother to check back for a fixed/final version.

Gargaj: that's because most people are complete and utter idiots who should be held under water until they stop making bubbles..
"forced release" is what I had to do with my last gf when she got multiple orgasms and just couldn't take more joy-saussage.
