not only commenting prods

category: general [glöplog]
how about being able to not only comment products but also groups/parties or even users? so if you love/hate group/user xyz completely it is your chance to use your thumb there! if you loved a party you can thumb it up.

might get a bit controversial - but hey: it's pouet

I think it would be a cool feature - tho, not all at once. Maybe just groups or parties first.

In addition to that I would like an option to add production notes or trivia to productions. Often this kind of information is lost among all the comments, so it would be nice to have them separately.

thumbing up or down users sounds like a bad idea, it would turn pouet into some sort of war arena.

we all know how people can react if they feel unappreciated. for myself, i think i would at least be quite hurt if i'd get a big load of thumb downs on my user account, even if countered by lots of thumb ups and even if the thumb downs would come from people who i don't really appreciate myself either. if you really need to make enemies, the bbs works well enough for that.

i *love* the rest (groups/parties) though.

That's what nfo files are meant for. People can ask to have the nfo updated if necessary. That and the comments page is enough and too much redundant information makes it boring and useless in the end imo.

Agreed. 100%. There is enough shit, attention whores and quarrels already.

well, not always. .nfo files are an art form to themselves and may sometimes not have anything about the production itself... And replacing the original release .nfo with an 'updated' .nfo from someone other than the original author? no, I can't say I'm for that at all - that would be like replacing an original production link with the link to a video of someone watching it and commenting on it.

However, a 'further info' type file - that I can go for. Just, needs a name other than .nfo - maybe something in some non-English tongue or something.

And I'll third the 'thumb up/down of people' sentiment. Backstabbing ain't no art form. You got something to say, say it on the BBS, or even better, in person. Cuz, ya know, greater internet fuckwad theory.
BB Image keops and his words.

Yeah, we all know that some loosers(skarab) would create new fakeaccounts to thumb themself up and others down ;) (im predecting a thumb down to everybody who thumb "sweetheart" down ;))

keops: sometimes its hard to read the line that says "this prod was disqualified at this party and delivered to some other where it won" admist 300 "sucks!"/"rules" comments..

100% agreed. i would go up in rage if someone would replace the original infofiles of the products i packaged and released.

I second Sir Garbatruck, .nfo files should not be changed. That said, I did not bring up the idea of "production notes" byself, but noticed it on CSDB. IMO it works rather nicely there. For example check out the entry for Panta Rhei:

The idea should work even better on the much more active pouet.

trivia-stuff and insider-info could be really cool :) ..but only as long as acredited members of the actual group got to make them. credit-listings for each prod on pouet would also be cool. :)

gloom: It would be quite complicated to validate members of the group. It is probably fine when everybody can add this kind of info. The abusal rate on pouet seems rather low so far - apart from the BBS.

just add them as comments - maybe the BB parser could have a [trivia][/trivia] tag to emphasize it.

yeah well, there are many REALLY neat functions in CSDB. unfortunately they require a mature audience. now go figure.

can we thumb up/down feature requests?
added on the 2005-01-10 00:11:38 by bruce bruce
gargaj: thats not such a bad idea at all actually...
i could do an option on the none/25/50/all dropdownlist to only show comments with trivia tags on them....

it would be nice...... i'd kill some more time then.... =)
