buy a book. i know it's lowtech, and ain't hype, but still works the best.
and still, while reading you wont thrash your eyes with unnecessary amount of harmful radiation from the monitor.

well ... a long time for sure. you dont learn to be good programmer in month, it really takes time. so buzz off until you have a demo ;D

i'm a bit late to this thread, but "machinima" and demos are pretty much considered separate scenes and productions. the former uses game engines through their editing tools. this is a bit taboo in the demoscene, not just for the lack of coding (the demoscene has its own share of tools/editors), but mostly because it encourages productions that look a lot like games, rather than any type of freeform art. ok, so we made an exception for optimus's doomonstration, but that's it. :)

thanx phoenix

with this in mind and because myparalysed friend likes myst, i want somehow to create a game type environment which goes beyond the usual in the hope that it will be freeform art....ie so one can 'travel' around/through the art.....like an artworld...so if u like imagine a room with a different art experience on each of the 6 sides(4walls) where you would be able to simply rotate around in the middle....and hopefully enter into the wall into the art maybe using some infinate code...
like through a light/ambient tunnel etc
and then come back to bass and then go off into another direction....
it seems a shame to simply have it fixed infront of you
i want to trancend somehow....someone said rez for dreamcast/playstation?

maybe like if u fly into something/an icon then the music changes so its like an interactive eyecandy artworld....
i'm probably being too ambitious but i hope if i cant do it that someone will :)
heres the computer i first began on in 1981 aged 11 :) i'm pretty sure it was the first home computer
my dad brought it home from work (until i got a specky)

http://www.tonh.net/museum/sharpmz80k.html

http://www.vnunet.com/features/50684

nice blocky graphics
had then wizzing(more like slow stepping) accross the screen in no time
any other old mz80k users here?

If you know how to program such computer download some emulator, or better try to buy the real machine somewhere and make some demos on it. Lotsa people are still doing demos on speccy nowadays, retro-computing became hype and elitist.
