Joke Prods and re-runs

category: general [glöplog]
It seems all I can see in the demoscene are joke-prods and re-runs.
VIP2, a few FR, and a few Huajobb prods have set the limits.

Now all I see are in-jokes and repeats.

The scene has gone into a coma.

Last time I checked up on Pouet and found a few nice latest added prods was a long time ago...VIP2 territory.

So, where is the demoscence I remember from the amiga days?, where's the PC demo groups pushing farther and farther?

i wouldnt say its less limits nowadays, the limits has just been moved, from doable to look-good-and-clean-meaning-you-cant-cheat-as-much-but-still-cant-be-doable-pure-realtime

"- The scene is dead, Jim"
"- That seems to be the most logical conclusion, captain."
"- That Klingon ship killed the scene! Fire photon torpedoes, Mr Sulu!"

My belief is that too many sceners are advocating these effortless releases, while criticising those that take time and genuine effort (Compare user's comments for Adrenalin and Chimera, or Elements and B10, for example).

If someone can become a scene legend for placing a few red patterns on a black screen, then why exert yourself by creating impressive effects, 3d worlds or intricate graphics and design?

doing what you feel like to is the key.

some never feels like doing too much time and effort consuming productions what is understandable cause they might be working hard in other directions than demomaking or maybe they are just not up to it.

if you made got drunk at 100 parties and released 100 crappy demos you deserve to be considered a legend(/cncd) ;]

for me, scene was never only releases.. and thus all this crap and ancient c64 stuff can make my heart sing because its scene.

Waaah! Waaah! I lost perspective! Waaah! The scene must be dead! WAAAH!

Grow up, get into it. If you haven't noticed that in-jokes and tribal wars are actually a thing of the last decaded, you must be dead yourself.

Claims of death and/or stagnation are one of the most time honoured demoscene customs. Let the tradition continue!!
i can only say, i don't think that only productions with lots of time going into them have a right to be released. for example: fr-027.. it got quite a lot of harsh comments, maybe even rightfully so... but i don't really care.. it's a thing i did because i enjoy doing it.. not because i want to impress someone or win a compo, but because i love making demos/intros. like a one-night-stand.. not a commitment for half a year. i could have kept it for myself and a few friends, but i was at a demo party so why not check it out on the big PA :D

i don't see anything wrong with that.

have you noticed that comments like these are always made by people you have yet to see a demo of
lol :)

Being drunk in charge of a pouet account can be a serious thing, I guess I felt as if the scene had stagnated a little recently.

*Makes a mental note not to post at pouet when drunk* :D

bloodyl: well if you would've started coding back then you would've been coding for as long as i've done and done enough demos and intros to get sick of people who just complains without doing shit. thank-u.
