People that think they have the only 'true' explanation of the scene are kinda short-sighted.
For me the demoscene is drinking beer and enjoying creativity (in that order) with like-minded individuals. Also, shit-talking is very important.

the pattern i see over and over on pouet is smart people behaving as scene/mind dictators dictated by the herd instinct.

iblis: the problem with zest is that he can't accept that his view on the 'scene' is so different from most of us. He keeps trying to convince us, the majority, that *his* viewpoint is the correct one, and we are short-sighted in thinking something else.

tell you what Okkie, what im getting from this is that Zest wants pouet to be exactly like pouet but different, and the scene to be exactly like the scene, but different.
Zests brilliant idea to use commonly avaible eletronics creatively, and often in -by the manufacturers of said devises- undocumented ways for fun, and then add it to internet databases to share it with other people...well it just seems like a concept that i have heard of before.

actually that's not even listening to other people, there is far too much uninteresting noise generated on the web (and i'm part of it like most of you at this very moment), that's just let people talk freely.
zest: 'people' get listened to so long as they have something worth listening to. The rest get ignored or told to shut up for wasting other people's time. This isn't a demoscene thing, it happens in the rest of the world too.
Now try and see if you can figure out who gets listened to more in here.. the people who've produced stuff, and know intimately what they're talking about, or the people that just like talking.

What you fail to understand entirely is that you are doing the same thing, you rush headfirst into a group of people with your oppinionating, but do not expect others to voice their oppinion about yours. iblis: i totally dig constructive contradiction, actually and honestly if i do some 'serious' trolling that's purposely to trigger some talk or debate, that's how things evolve, even if that puppet 'zest' has to be burnt in the process.
psonice: some people deeply involved into their art or work can't look ahead as i've already said, you need sometimes a designer to think ahead, some virgin or outsider eyes to give you a fresh viewpoint or perspective.
