I haven't seen you being flooded by kick-arse prods from us, splitted or not, anyway. This point goes to Preacher, no doubt.

Far & Brausch? Krawallbrause mixed with vodka? You will probably see a lot more colours in case you have a try. But don't ask me, I never tried that dangerous mixture in order to taste the Farbrausch!

God, do I really need to spell out the history of FarBrausch to you all??

FAR: Founded in 1987 bij Chaos, Gizmo, Ronny, Wayfinder and CP. Started as an Amiga Cracking Group from Berlin, famous for cracking mostly porno related games.

In 1989 Chaos started coding more complex effects on his Amiga 500 and thus the first megademos were created.

Music was back then mostly done by Gizmo where Ronny was still a graphician. Later they decided to switch tasks, because Ronny actually cannot draw!

They became famous in the ninetees with their 64k series on PC called 'FARside' which where basically single color objects bouncing on the screen in 2D. They used a different color every release which they used in the nameconvention, for example 'FAR-Blue' and 'FAR-Red'. A predecesor for the FRXX- namingconvention.

Brausch: Founded in 1991 by KB and Yoda, started out as a trackinggroup.

They released Modules on several Hamburg BBS'es and gained quite some popularity with their remixes of Marlene Ditrich tracks. KB once even appeared on the local Hamburg tv-channel because one of his modules was getting a lot of attention from local radiostations. He tried to explain the concept 'Demoscene' but failed so miserably that all the viewers thought the 'Demoscene' was about setting squirrels on fire and spitting moldy nougat onto glass doors.

In 1994 Ryg joined Rausch and as a coder started working on the first Rausch demo's.. famous for their constant use of images of picklejars and lollipops.

Their biggest achievement was back in 1996 when they won first place in the Kudelmacher'96 democompo with their entry 'Meines gurkensalat ist nicht gut, ober!' which amazed the demoscene back then.

The merge: In 1998 KB and Chaos met at the University of Hamburg, where both were studying landscaping at the time, and they decided to merge both groups into Farbrausch.

They started working on their most well known production, FR-08: The Conduct, and it took nearly 3 years to complete the final version.

Calling Brausch Rausch is also a very common mistake to make, since they released several joke entries as Rausch.. sorry for my mistake!

Okkie, you forgot one minor detail:

KB and Chaos were inspired by the demogroup and name Nah-Kolor.

Connecting Far and brausch resulted in the name Farbrausch; Raush with Farb.. Farb (meaning Kolor) and rausch (meaning away with it, no Kolor
in the end...... Nah-Kolor)

They had a win-win situation and lived happely ever after in a universe far far away... :-)

okkie: you also forgot the short-lived coop between FAR and ARtwork (insiders claim the combined name just didn't work out) which brought ARtworks finest invention to the table: world's first invisible graphician.

Quote:
Are you saying that the members didn't have a vote in this and it was decided by the management only ? :)

demogroups with management are SOOOO last century..
Management? What's that for anyway?

Also, "FAR" is often cited to be an abbreviation of "Federation Against Rausch" - this is yet to be confirmed however.

yes, there was quite some controversy when that rumour got spread, though I hear that Brausch always took it as a joke against their jokename Rausch. Then again, many rumours where spread about what FAR stood for. Things as 'Feline Asshole Rapists', 'Fat American Rollerskaters', 'Funky Amish Ringmasters' 'Free Antartic Raspberries' and many, many more..

The American Heritage dictionary defines the following:

man|age|ment  [man-ij-muhnt]
-noun
1. the act or manner of managing; handling, direction, or control.
2. skill in managing; executive ability: great management and tact.
3. the person or persons controlling and directing the affairs of a business, institution, etc.: The store is under new management.
4. executives collectively, considered as a class (distinguished from labor).

The last one is particularly interesting, because it means people who are not able to do any labor, or distantiate themselves from those who are. Taken back to the scene, people without skill to do any code, graphics or music call themselves management.

It appears that the management wants to increase shareholder value by decreasing the labor. Way to go, Scoopex!

rumours go that the cooperation between FAR and BRAUSCH is over and some of the members became either participators of theprodukkt or try to raise money for an expedition to check the Elitegroup crashsite.
