COMPO: Who finds the best "pre-scandal" review for "Do It"? Here's the best I could find with some googling:

Quote:

The roller-skating jam "Do It" is all percolating, bubblegum keyboards (and one of Timbaland's best beats since he put the snakey whistle on Ludacris' "The Potion").

Quote:

'Do It' drops an early Eighties Street Sounds electro-pop motif into some frisky footwork from Timbaland.

Quote:

"Do It" is probably the best uptempo track on the album. While I again initially had visions of Gwen while hearing this song, it now reminds me more of something Madonna would have done on her first two albums, before she becams eslf-important and lost her sense of humor.

Quote:

It's followed by "Do It" which gives a refreshing change to the album as it's got a strong hip hop mixed with electro feel to it. The gist of the lyrics revolve around sexual innuendos which again is not what we're used to from pure faced Nelly Furtado, but she does pull it off - not literally! I really like this song and can see it being played it bars and clubs around the country - a great electro sounding hip hop track that really does stick in your mind.

Quote:

But then there's "Do It," with a rush of hectic keyboard squiggles and a remarkable bassline that promises to make anybody feel just a little bit more beddable.

Quote:

Do It is also fun with what sounds like a Commodore 64 in the background (for those fellow geeks who know what I'm talking about).
okkie: nelly ? newcomer? lol... shes not though. shes been around since about 6+ years..

them awards are a joke, look at the parent companies of most labels, boils down to 2 or 3..
"hectic keyboard squiggles" =)

You also cannot believe just anyone. There are so many ways this could have happened...including the person getting paid under the table and just feels ripped off because "loose" went farther than they expected, so they want more.

Hey Tempest, they're calling you liars and blackmailers now :D

So let's see... none of the suspects have so far stated a peep, and this makes it all okay. Except for the Finnish Nintendo Chicks who actually did do a statement of their own? Yup, makes sense to me...

TIMBALAND OFF THE HOOK?

Anyway, my boy Ricardo told me that Tim's beat from Nelly Furtado's "Do It" is actually something from a beat program. From what I understand, the sample that Timbo's using is a sample package that is used in a production program called Acid 7.0. Now, apparently both Finnish producer Janne Suni and Timbaland both used the same loop, which is paid for by coppin' the program. This might not exactly be biting. Now, don't go crazy, because a lot of these "free" beats are copy written just like the old Casio keyboard beats. That's right, I used to get my Casio ON. Tim might have just styled on Suni, but he might of gotten it from Acid 7.0 too. I can't call it.

Jesus christ.

Heh, some people have no idea how 'music making' works. Even if he was right, it would make Timbaland damn lazy for just using a 'beat' from a 'beat program' :)

Sorry kid, Ricardo is wrong as fuck :D
added on the 2007-01-26 10:52:11 by okkie okkie
Indeed.

I also like how he refers to ACID 7.0, when the latest version is 6.0 (and does not even come with a sample-package as default :). I also love it that "Ricardo" simply ignores the fact that Jannes track is six years old. :)

I tried googling for "Acid 7.0" to check its release date and laugh at how wrong he was, but all I found was this:

there is no such thing as acid 7.0

Anybody who calls Fruityloops a weapon of choice needs to be punched in the face.
added on the 2007-01-26 11:29:31 by Shifter Shifter
shifter, you must be misinformed. basshunter used fruityloops to make "boten anna", which directly implies that fruityloops kicks major bott.

Or basshunter belongs to the people who need to be punched in the face. I think quite a lot of people would agree.
