The 64 MB limit at BP07

category: general [glöplog]
it's just one example of one end. look at prod page of deities for an example of the other end. i'm not telling that many people demand videos. my post was a reply to scamp who said videos are mostly demanded for the lack of native hardware, which is, you know, wrong. people even demand videos for demos that are running on their machine, sluggishly of course. using only ps2 profile shaders doesn't mean the demo will run smoothly on ps2 cards.
I *DEMAND* a video of this thread!
Deities - "the other end":
- 8 requests for a video -> 3.5%

WOW, demoscene WAS realtime but is not anymore, no doubt...

make that 6 -> 2.7%, two of them are mac users ;)

You can clearly see from the comments in threads of TBL productions that only a few have watched the real time demo on the acctuall harwdware.

Let's play the smartass game then:
using 68000 assembly doesn't mean the demo will run smoothly on MC68000 machines.

Pointless argument, sorry ;)

About only one "video please!" comment per demo: do you ever see 100 "final version, please!" posts for a single demo? Look, people just waiting for a link, then download without any noise. Better count how much times the video was downloaded, ok? 2900 times for "Track Loop" (1/3 of exe downloads). Okay, mathematicians, you like to count numbers - so, calculate that numbers. And read what Anes said, he got the point.

keops, please reread that post. they are surely more than the ones in starstruck page. and it doesn't make any sense to compare just a few prods.

that's exactly what i mean. "just buy the hardware it's cheap" isn't an argument, because people already have it.

and this discussion has nothing to do with the topic so i'll post kittens.

Probably they're just afraid to ask for the videos thus admitting their hardware is *already* outdated and grab them when they're online ?

Beside some people do not seem to be disturbed by watching demos at 3 fps (which disturbs me a bit).

Manwe: Ok, explaining things to you really isn't fruitful.

So, I'll just state

- People request videos if prods that don't run on hardware they have available
- This is not an indicator that people think that compressed videos look better than realtime high-res output
- This is not an indicator that realtime productions are dying, and that the future of the demoscene is producing videos instead
- All of this doesn't have anything to do with the 64MB PC demo size limitation at Breakpoint 07
- You are retarded

Manwe & Anes: if you will excuse us, we clueless realtime lamers are off to CODE demoscene for the stupid minority requesting realtime stuff now.

In the meantime, have fun with your preRANTed gibberish.

Your demoscene is not the one I know, sorry.

Hahahahaha... oh god, that was excellent! I needed a really good laugh after all these miserable comments. :)

Ah yes, but I digress -- what I wanted to said was that since nothing good can come from trying to argue with an idiot I'll stop no. :)

keops i have nothing to do with manwe's discussion on videos. i just stated a fact not an opinion. videos are demanded more for windows demos, be it for popularity or be it lack of compatibility. their ratio on the number of total comments is not something i've made a statement on.

the fact that this information helps manwe's arguments more means neither i agree him nor he's right.
Ok, I'll try this ONE more time:

"I hereby declare this thread CLOSED!"

.... and for those of you, who don't understand me, and, for some freaky reason beyond me, seem to love these fucking cats, here's a fine image:

...and anyone without a sense of fun, irony and humour in general, will now start beating me verbally.

So, having anticipated that, here's another blow in their direction:

BB Image
Time to sing "hey, hey, 16k, what does that get you today ?" :)
look, if we're going to mess with cats:

That's the way ah-ha ah-ha I like it!
