The 5th Annual Scene Awards

category: general [glöplog]
i agree with shifter, they dont list all the actors that died the last year during the oscars.. do they? just cos we had a few deaths on a row recently doesnt mean we have to turn sentimental.. it's a part of life.. people come and go.. scene is dying, so more people go than come, i have to admit :P but well.. still, mentioning deaths at the scene awards just remains silly.

How about mentioning the sceners who passed away during ceremony ?
I mean, it's just some words more but those would for sure touch other groups member's and friends hearts.
(I was even thinking about some short slide showing most outstanding prods where he/she have been involved, but maybe it's me pushing too far...)

You mean like.... Best Dead Person category?

They do the obituary thing at the french equivalent of oscars, the cesars. Not that you really care.

Anyway Cannes is a better model for the awards that the oscars ever will be.

Most Inactive Scener?

Oh come on, Mr. Doom, that's bad taste.

I know.

Hate me.

Seriously though, I agree with everyone. And no two minutes of silence or whatever. That kind of organized sympathy is never genuine anyway.

Shifter: So your point is that someone who keeps chronicle of such sad events, but wishes not to regurgitate them in a painfully irrelevant and incoherent fashion at a place that's probably the most unfitting for it is being hyprocritical? (And cut the martyrdom, I didn't slam you, just mentioned that the wording is somewhat unfortunate... Besides, try to remember who's idea was "List of sceners about to die"... *cough*)

Shifter: yes, maybe, after all it's an event inside a ***party***.
rainmaker: nop, that would be more like... Worst demoscene loss.
Maali: actually, yes they do that at the oscars. And was not about getting sentimental but sh0w0r some respect or something like that.
knos: yes, long live cinema ART instead of cinema SELLOUT.

Evil: A nice gesture actually. But at a happening like this, you would allways have some asshole drunk fukkers making fun of it or whatever.
But dedicating prods and awards to certain people would be a good way to show respect. (you dont really see that too often)

Do you mean the Polish or the Finnish?

Yes.

Well both the Poles and Finns are definitivly drunk fucks, but recent years I belive the Sweds have taken over the firstplace of being DRUNK FUCKS at demoparties :)
But being a DRUNK FUCK, doesnt mean you're an Asshole. And nationality has nothing to do with it :)

Unless you're from Holland that is. (haha, sorry Shifter, I just had to)

Right. Moving on, Evil's sentiments are certainly commendable. I would seriously drop whatever I was doing for a minute worth of silence to commemorate the demosceners that passed away. However, the Scene.org awards is the most stupid place to do that. Being bored and frustrated, any dissented fucker will quip during that section of the awards -possibly relating to sexuality or the comedy gold surrounding the death.

Honestly, hunting down and killing such a fucker will only mean we'd have to remember that person next year. Who needs that shit?

The best place (okkie agrees wholly, so whore on that you rubbernecks) is in a demo, where no people can fuck things up.

Gargaj: since you're the one constantly updating the list (I'm keeping the hell away from that page), I'd say you'd do better than to counter any questions with cryptic hubris. I am sad that this is the case.

Since it's been established that my brain is deteriorating at a terminal rate, I'd love to know who you would pin that to. My guess is me.

We all know you're a waste of space, no need to stretch the sentiment.

That better be an 150 baud acoustic coupler you're using on that terminal.

I'm not the only one and i also fail to see the tradeoff - my sole point was that remembrance isn't the problem with the concept; it's the actual delivery that has flaws.

just so you guys understand, my point wasnt that remenbering dead persons is useless. but on the other side, in my point of view, the scene.org awards is the place where the show goes on. there is a time to grief, and there a time to move on.

anyway, it was an idea by evil, it couldnt be a good one, face it.
