Nintendo DS / Demo or Intro projects in progress ?

category: general [glöplog]
Hello iam really wondering that there are only a few NDS Releases so far,
is this machine so hard to code ? Or just too many lazy coders outside ...

I would really like to see more scene stuff on NDS,
if there is someone still working for demo or Intro, or wants to start it, dont hesitate to ask me for graphical / design support ...

Whats out so far cannot be the benchmark !

The demoscene is not about creating benchmarks.
Nor is it about creating content for _your_ new toy.
Hahah okay .... you mean i just ask for some stuff for my "new" toy .... nah ...

I just think after viewing all existing stuff on DS that there must be more possible, i love demos and working for it too, why not exploring a allmost virgin system :)

i'll be happy to create content for your new toy, as soon as you get me one. kthx1000

I have had a DS with a m3 for a while, but sadly I don't code that much any more - if I did there might have been a demo from me :)
Anyway, the machine is quite simple. Basicly GBA plus a 3d engine, which works like OGL.
And Slummy : the origin of real demos is in my eyes still the Amiga ... Good old ECS times, with nice productions from Sanity, Silents, Anarchy, Phenomena, Scoopex and Melon Dezign ...

Shit i cannot really hide my roots anymore ...

But i dont want to start a "where demoscene was invented topic" :)

Graga: wondering if the 3d engine has a known api... can you write something more or link to some info / devtools? ty

h2o, try to search the prod list of other systems, do the average of released prods by year and by system.

makc: Get DevkitPro with examples - http://devkitpro.org/
There's examples for everything that you need to know - you can start coding seriously within a few days if you have some experience with OGL, etc.
If you don't have any GBA experience, then it might take a little longer, but any console coding experience will help.

(I am having a fever, apologizes for my sentences)
Graga: TY. And take care ;)

The API provided with dekitPro is OpenGL-like, which is tad dubious since it's lacking lot of OpenGL features and the hardware isn't ment for OpenGl. But yeah, at least it's pretty easy to get a spinning cube on screen -> you're set for demoing. ;)

Someone converted the NeHe 3d tutorials for DS, I think they're coming with devkitPro / libnds, that's probably easiest way to start at looking how things look like.

In progress? Yes. Likely to be released any time soon? That's a different story. :)

What do you mean not OpenGL-like? Except for using fixed point the hardware is VERY OpenGL-like.

Reason enough to buy a DS, I think. I can't figure out if the exercises actually do anything but teach you, but for some reason they're great fun.

Also teaches vital party organizing skills:

Anyway, isn't the DS a pretty open platform? I mean, with the stylus and all maybe you could write some useful stuff for it.

"but teach you" -> "but teach you how to do the excercises"

H2O, contact me asap please, we're currently working on some NDS stuff. You've got my skype iirc!

OMG. That IS optimus! o_O

That's freaky. Especially considering that's not your avatar, that's a floating head that pops up all the time and tells you what to do. And it wants you to do some pretty random stuff.
