I completly disagree with the claims that this demo rips any group (mfx, kewlers, and even haujobb) more than any other demo.

I think the double whammy here is that Visu has been working with all of the above. What planet have you been watching demos on again?

planet potion?
how very "zing" of you ;)

this thread is now about catchy puns.

These are some examples that I have in hand of what the people does OUTSIDE the demoscene on the same field:

i don't usually consider my tastes "artsy" or "anti-establishment", but the guys who said this was more about the feeling than the effects were right. it's the presentation that makes this special.

Shifter: you can't have complete abstraction of your past work or external influences.

Fist you brag about how outside the demoscene everything's so much better ant meaningful and real art and all that and then, to prove your point, you show us tons of alpha polys put into each other? isn't that a BIT ironic? :)

now add it to http://www.pouet.net/lists.php?which=10 in an artsy wy

kb_, only polys are true art.

kb: At the risk of stating the obvious: putting a ton of alpha polygons together is just a technique, I am quite sure that one needs more ingredients than just the technique to accomplish a work that is 'meaningful and real art'

bruce, at the risk of ridiculing you for not having caught the subtle joke: this was directed at all those "alphablended polygons are not art" comments 828 got.
added on the 2007-02-22 13:55:38 by kb_ kb_
kb: Ah... I get it! I kind of missed that because I did not manage to care to read the 828 comments in detail.

nosfe: "choose zero polys and shaders (and disregard the ./cg/ directory)"?

gargaj, choose karhu and zubrowka and koskenkorva

kb: jokes aside, those videos show a similar style that visualize is trying to do in this demo, but the end result/composition/flow/colours, imho, is much better.

And going back to Bonzaj's point, we better get some nice work done or this will end up as ugly as those animations that the people used to do with POVray.

trace: too bad they dont do demos with werkkzeug uh?
added on the 2007-02-22 22:23:35 by psenough psenough
ps, they have coded their own demotool of course!
added on the 2007-02-22 22:29:55 by nosfe nosfe
not to mention the difference between hours of fancy renderman rendering versus realtime on mid-spec GPUs. or the fact that none of trace's demos are pure pearls that shocked the demoscene as much as _THIS_ release, so why dont YOU start with bringing that blahblah quality into demos? :)
