The Epic Voyage II - Demoscene Summer Tour 2008

category: general [glöplog]
While we discuss about money issues in the breakpoint thread, here comes an idea that I would like to have some feedback.

renting a van/two vans/a small bus/a big bus/a plane - ok, ok... - and picking up sceners from Portugal all the way to Finland, visiting half dozen demoparties, sleeping at scener's places, or cheap motels, or even camping resorts... all this for a month or 5 weeks.

questions:

1 - would you do it?
2 - how much would you be willing to spend?
3 - why is it a good/bad idea?

i'm willing to make the effort and organize this. we have 16 months to go. should be enough for everyone.

ah, one more thing: this will happen, i'm just not sure if it will be 4 people on my car or 40 people in a coach. you decide.

how many times do i need to tell you: planes. they go there direct, they're cheaper, more comfortable, no flat tires, no 300e fines, no 20 hours driving sessions, they fly and you're there all jetlagged and drousy, if you fly l33t you even get a couple free drinks, what more could you possibly ask for?

well, either way, you figure out the details, im in.

1 - would you do it?
Yes.

2 - how much would you be willing to spend?
Depends on my situation.
"we have 16 months to go." - Okay, enough time to get some money by "working" at random red light districts.

3 - why is it a good/bad idea?
Portugese Scener mentioned planes. bad idea. A scenish bang bus is so much more full of love.
1 - would you do it?
Probably - It depends on the dates! The Working Class do not have the flexibility to choose their holidays.....

2 - how much would you be willing to spend?
Depends on my situation.
I could use my Holiday Pay to afford the trip (and get a VISA CARD yust in case...)

3 - why is it a good/bad idea?
It is good because I've allways wanted to travel around Europe, but never got the chance.

I just don't know if my shedule (work and university) will leave enought time for it.

1 - would you do it?
In a happy fantasy world, yes, I'd love to. In reality, no chance. :( You're on the right track with the 18 months notice, though.

2 - how much would you be willing to spend?
A lot. If I could come.

3 - why is it a good/bad idea?
Possibility of bus exploding if going below 50 mph. Hard to sustain 50 mph for a month. Hard to watch the compos at 50 mph. Also, risk of Metalvotze showing up. Hard to endure Metalvotze for a month. Would need to prepare lots of releases. Hard to hand in releases at 50 mph.

Did I just gargaj?

16 months till summer 2008? Either the topic is wrong or there's a miscalculation something. :)

Like ps said, planes rule. They are often even cheaper than taking a car / bus, if you follow the offers closely.
