Show what you do in Photoshop

category: gfx [glöplog]
havoc: pah! :P
Hello, some explanations about my picture :
. this picture is called Afterdeath and speak about "hope" and more.
. a structure with and without a center : 1 triangle composed of 7 triangles.
based on gold number ( by eye, not with coordinates so it's my precision )

Sorry all that missed some understanding , few things can give you clues about the subject
but everything is drawn and waiting you.
Some clip arts, for zoom-fans, as bonus part in pixels are also :
. a dragon . an areena . some heads .
but even theses bonuses are made for purpose.

Sorry if do not like these pastel colors, i have not yet made a right gamma conversion as i'm working on a flashy mac screen. Seems only imac or mac30" have same color balance .

About how : this picture is drawn without model without photo without tv without mirror, to check my own memory. stages are available on scene.org and speak by themselves that i changed my mind on what i'm gonna show during the creation.

more coment will soon be available on www.Olivierbechard.com .

I'm very glad some of you liked it, respects and regards.

Yes, a lame copy but it's was just a fast test (~5 hours) to examine the technical aspects of the combination of my lousy tablet with Photoshop for the first time in my life. So yep, probably full of glitches and errors but I'm a C64 pixel graphician after all and never did anything serious in PS before :) I'll come up with something original next time, I promise! :P Workstages here be

doom: http://www.scene.org/dir.php?dir=%2Fparties/ is my usual startingpoint for this type of research :)

as for the debate, the asm graphics compo orgos are clearly a bunch of morons, or at least totally drunk and stoned when making their selection, perhaps combined with temporary blindness. having analyzed it now, i will definitely never ever ever make anything for that compo. ra did it, and got poop on the head in return. it makes no sense to kill eachother for silly interpretations of subjective or objective judgment as long as the kind of carelessness displayed by asm orgos still persists in our scene.

Ra: Thanks for your input. Keep the great work coming!

Jailbird: Copying is a good way to practice and develop techniques, and that's a damn good start for someone who's never used Photoshop!

Havoc: I agree 100%. Next year they'll be throwing the 4k intros in with the Wild demos.

ra: I quite like that, nice style. There's a small problem though, unless I'm missing something.. where's the logo? :)

Sometimes things don't really have to be clearly visible...great work on that logo!

ah, so the two logos go together?

And yeah, it stands alone just fine. Just curious why I can't see the name :)

ra: i admire your persistence!

wade: nothing surprises me anymore since they combined 4k procedural gfx entries with bitmaps and ansi/asciii (see asm08 "extreme graphics" competition)... :(((

havoc : ???? what you mean ???

ra: i think it's cool you will still try to compete at asm, despite the poor compo organising standards at that event. that can only mean you have fun making pictures, and that's what it's all about imho.

havok: more of that : Assembly for me represent the future or where future can be of demoscene, and i expect it will be called Scene instead of demoscene.
Also, it's not assembly organizers fault if people that call themselves VIP's are not able to stop their drink attitude to participate on jurys for couple of hours.
I talked to Assembly main organizers , and they are far more involved into than almost everybody here ...
You should wake up before missing the train, u are pissed because ascii and 4kprocedural gfx are in the same competition ? Sorry , but these categories are 'obsolete' and exist just because it's a hobby for some people. Please admit Scene is not about recycling.

Yes breakpoint is the best one , yes breakpoint is only sceners , yes ....
Assembly is the One , deserve better critics from you guys next time .

doesn't the scene as a whole exist because it's a hobby for some people?

4k procedural gfx is a rather new phenomenon as far as I understand (at least on PC) and gets more popular on every party with a compo for it judging by the pouet uploads, so calling it "obsolete" is a bit... strange.

mostly talking about ascii and bitmap low low res
added on the 2008-09-17 17:27:39 by 24 24
Yes but that's the point. While 4k gfx is new and hip and actually requires coding, ascii and bitmap are, well, not about coding but about er, drawing. The only thing they have in common is that the end result is displayed on a computer screen and does not move. It makes no sense to put them in one compo.

what stijntje said...

concerning asm orgos, as involved as they may be, they do not manage to prevent such horrific flaws in their organising. also, i don't believe stadium LAN gaming events are the future of the demoscene, rather the past.

What havoc said. Having now been to asm and a smaller local party, in future i'll go for the pure demo party over asm if that's the choice.
added on the 2008-09-17 17:44:23 by psonice psonice
well, besides pure demoscene events, i'm open minded towards combinations of demoscene parties with larger cultural/artistic events/organisations too. nvision was an example of this, demozone will be (in combination with the dutch film festival), i hear a lot of positive stories about various efforts in vienna, etc etc. but the combination of a demoscene party with a much larger LAN gaming event simply does not work, the list of failed experiments in that direction goes on and on, asm is the last of the mohican tipi's if you will ;)

guys! before flaming the asm gfx compo organizers, you (we :p) should read the rules : http://www.assembly.org/summer08/compos/sound-vision/graphics

retouching a scanned photo was authorized, as long as the technique is properly described...

now, i don't remember if i actually read the technique announcement before enjoying the graphics :>
