apart from the above outburst of annoyance, thanks to all the organizers for a great party. We had a great first time there, found everyone really useful and friendly, the party place is awesome!! Cologne is the best party location ever i think! <3

^^ what he said :)
evoke was a great party once again! the biggest improvements compared to last year were the smoking ban in the main hall (finally..), and the absence of metalvotze (please stay away). :-)

Devistator: well, Ile did claim that the spamming spree would be over when that demo ever got ranked first at a demo party. People may have seen a good opportunity to get rid of it once and for all.

The weird thing was that the original version of RIJ was submitted, yet they played the 64k port by DYRC on the screen. That's one major loophole and probably means it's not over yet.

hm... would anyone like to tell us that didn't visit evoke 2008 what happened this year production wise ? I consider evoke to be probably the 3rd biggest "demo" party of the year, maybe behind breakpoint and assembly (or so I was told). Anxious to see the new crop of megademos and whatnot I logged on to pouet.net today and what do I see... 2 demos and 4-5 intros from 2001 ? nvision eh.. or am I missing something obvious

Nvidia bought the demoscene.

navis, evoke has always had a big impact on the scene socially, or so i feel it - somehow there's a special creative vibe there that's less present on other parties - but has seldomly had a very impressive release list, imho. i guess it's too close to too many parties (incl asm, and nvscene this year) for that. i've the idea that the autumn parties often had bigger releases (i.e. function, bcnparty, etc)

that said, there was the kooi+ma demo so it must've been awesome despite the low amount of demos!

does anyone know if Roquette Science recorded his DJ set lastnight at Evoke??? and if so, where I could get it from?

rephaim: unfortunately, they haven't. but i know that there is another roquette science & looza liveset recording, perhaps looza or dhg would like to share it with the scene...

would _really_ appretiate a track listing of lastnights playlist too. i'd really like to get hold of some of those tracks, but without names...bleh

the tv cameras at evoke were too much imho. it's nice to have promotion and stuff, and i dont want to be the "anti-sellout,keep-it-real"-scenenazi here, but i'm kinda shy and STILL seeing cameras filming even after midnight kinda really interrupted my habits...
i love seeing demoscene documentations/whatever on tv, but not at the cost that i have to be afraid of moving arround the partyhall because i might get caught on camera, especially when i'm merely drunk and/or stoned. not that i think they would show such footage anyway, it's just the fact that at least I act different when i know there is a camera pointing near my direction, and there happened to be much cameras in the partyhall for a quite huge amount of time. privacy and "cozy family-like partyfeeling" ftl.

... or maybe i'm just paranoid and overreacting?

Not really, Red..

When people are awake you can tell the camera guy to go fuck himself in a corner - but on sunday morning I noticed multiple camera crews film quite a lot of sleeping people in the hall who have probably no idea that they are on tape.

And technically you are not at a "public event" (as you pay entrance fee - note this is according to my knowledge of belgian law as a photographer, might be different in germany) so you do have the right to ask for removal of all your images. Sleeping people dont have that chance - even if the footage is not used for whatever show, how can you be sure that it does not go into a generic stock footage archive.

they all heard rob is jarig was going to be released again and decided to release their demos at nvision and buenzli instead in pure fear of what would later happen.... they stood no chance in this compo.

now. I wan't to see RIJ at nvision. that would cause some serious looks I'm sure :-)
