What's the story behind the Plastic PS3 demo?

category: offtopic [glöplog]
FirewalkR: it was a perfect photorealistic rendering of hitchhikr sobbing wretchedly
nice advert.

"what Tech Demo department?! Those sceners work so much harder and are a lot cheaper. kthnx!"

In the Bonzaj bp seminar video, he talks about the demo at around 21 mins, and at 25 mins he shows a small segment looping of the "tentacle" part.

a video would be nice, preferably in some appropriate HD format.

Gargaj: actually it was a cat who observed a dog 'flying' through the air
than the dog got attacked and turned into stone by a 'black swarm'
than a 'matrix like' robot sees the dog of stone flies through it
and the dog turns into pieces. Than the robot gets into a fight with the 'black swarm' (the black swarm reminds me of the b/w FR demo
from evoke) and on top of a greek temple the fight gets more intensive. The temple is smashed into pieces. A piece falls down cracking the screen music is in climax and it send there.. (who won? :)

that's about what i remember as well. in other words: it's deities without the risk of epileptic seizure.

the black swarm especially reminds me of shadow of the colossus. and so does the face on the sentinel. which was a fucking great game (or actually, a great -experience-). it's obvious sony also had some artistic influence.

help, speculation among ignorant gamers is shooting through the roof everywhere on the net (kotaku, etc.)! Team ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, yeah right.. Well, what would you expect ;-) Plastic to the rescue:

Bonzaj is needed at the info desk!

kb: that's none of my business, but as a subsidiary precaution : are bonzaj and sony ok with that ?

anyway it was a great show at breakpoint, thanx to whoever got involved!

the dead panda still puzzles me :>

i guess the dead panda is from the 97490782409178 hidden parts bonzaj told me about :)

zest: I got the video file from bonzaj to spread it, so I've got reasons to think it's ok ;)

I don't really get the point of all this fuzz. Of course if given paid time and PS3 development hardware and just having to worry about visual processing you can do something beautiful on said machine (the German article seems to be comparing it to actual games who have more on their mind/CPU than rendering which is rather unfair -- or I misunderstood the article, another option).

No fucking wonder. And it's not being entered into a competition.

Now give us the video and get it over with, geez.

And make more Atari demos. Or whatever.

Let's not forget that tech demos has been produced by "demo groups" since forever. Just that because of the money, there's no demo group logo - rather a company logo.

there IS a demogroup logo in this one.

I eagerly await that video. A couple of my friends don't believe the screenshots.

FirewalkR: you sound like the maffia: "say, that's a nice pc... would be a shame if something would happen to it" ;-)

I am looking for nextgen demos mainly for PS3 and Plastic is my favourite crew...
Later upload DIVX too...
Nextgen consoles is the future!!!
Becouse they can not be pimped I mean GFX and SOUNDCHIP and CPU will stay always same.
So is same as C64 or AMIGA or ST or 8bit ATARI or ZX...
I mean good for demoscene!!!
So PS3,X360,PSP,DS and next will be good way...
And money in demoscene???
Well why not...
Graffiti artist are pure hardcore non-commercial artists and look at MONTANA SPRAY CANS COMPANY /or another one/ they are sponsoring ELITE-WRITERS...
So why not SONY or NVIDIA or INTEL... will not sponsor ELITE-SCENERS...Partys...T-Shirts...WWW space...
Why not???
Sponsoring is good!!!

Farbrauch and Plastic is good...
