lamer on sight

category: general [glöplog]
I wanted to move a polluting discussion from this prod: http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=51453

It's not a first time when wie8 accused someone that has used his ideas before him. Last time it was Farlight with their "Media Error". The funny thing is he was using the same screenshots back then (precisely this one: http://asenses.untergrund.net/razor/AS_Ending3_FINAL.jpg).
He didn't write the same statement after "Media Error" was released. Mostly because Anadune is a group with much smaller respect
than Fairlight is. Hey, what am I talking about? How can you accuse other group for stealing your ideas, before releasing anything?
Anyways try not to show any production process screenshots outside group next time because it's lame like hell. And I also think that you should not be in scene.org award jury because you judge mostly driven by emotions and relations between you and other sceners. That's lame.

And also because you stated that you got the NV demobox, and I haven't
seen any Allien Senses prods on nvscene then we have a blacklist member No1. Of course it's a plain stupid idea with this list, because we know the rules, but even so - this should remind you to attack others work before releasing anything.

/me repeats 10 times "i shall not post witty sarcasm about fairlight and media error"

I have to say that imho his stuff isn't really innovative, what I've seen on that open folder has been done over and over on the graphic design world for years. I don't think nobody in the demoscene is actually innovating at all in the design part, well, maybe ed stop/destop does a bit.

So, blaming other people that they copied ideas that you copied (subconsciously or not) from other people it's indeed lame.

Graphic design is like Insomnia... "Everything is a copy of a copy of a copy..."

bonzaj: what are you saying, that wie8 was accusing us of stealing his ideas for media error?
added on the 2008-09-08 10:21:21 by smash smash
I've seen that stuff a million times in the context of motion graphics.

Next time someone does cubes, i'll blame them for copying our stuff!!!1111

ey, let's make a deal not to copyright platonic solids, shall we :)

On the topic, I can only say that the design in anadune's demo was nice, but I didn't think it looked groundbraking enough to support a big ripoff discussion. Chances are that this should be dealt with internally and not be opened up to people without any chance of making the right judgement.

I don't remember anything like this and I'm sure wie8 would have told me that if he tought so. In fact he likes this demo very much.

I'm here with skurwy. As he said - there are two points of view on this matter and I don't really care. Yes I thumbed down "echoes" too but this was only my personal opinion on borrowing some concepts after seeing them and I didn't like the demo anyway. You may have other opinions and I'm perfectly fine with it.

What I don't understand is making a drama out of it by opening threads like this. Some people exchanged some opinions on the prod's comment page, discussion closed. Nothing to see here, move along.

True design innovation is barely appreciated by the demoscene anyway.

This whole discussion is ridiculus. And what trace said...

teh drama...

the anadune demo is well made and designed but its design isn't really original, with or without those allien senses screenshots...

what bonzaj said : next time don't show preview materials to others if you want to keep your supposedly original ideas to yourselves (d'oh!)

smash: let's say he had this moment when someone did something before him and he was whining all around about it. AFAIK he was whining mostly to Mr. Acryl. It was mostly because of the AO city, which he has seen here http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZEUsWhxZEac

Oh noes! A 3D city with baked AO lighting! What will they STEAL NEXT?!

on a side note i hope this allien senses demo will be released, it looks good :)

and even if both the anadune and allien senses demos share some same design bits, that stupid to trash your collaboration (who gives the great angelic forum) for such a reason, why not considering both the demos as personal interpretations of similar concepts ?
added on the 2008-09-08 12:58:55 by Zest Zest
the guy must have a serious god complex to think that those ideas are "his own" or at all original. (or that we somehow saw his images before making media error.)
if he took a walk through xplsv.tv he could find 100 videos with the same rough ideas.

it showed some good graphic design, though. but that shouldnt be the only thing in a demo - it's an important part of it, but it's everything else that goes with it that makes a good demo in the end.
