Demoparties & the web & you

category: general [glöplog]
Nosfe said it best. Now that pouet covers exec gfx it really should cover exec music aswell. I dont see the differense in them. and it would also be neat if it covers the gfx and music compos (but then restrict it to partyreleases to avoid pouet being flooded from contributions outside compos)

simple as that: music doesn't have screenshots, so it doesn't belong to pouet! :D :D :D
(not that this is what i am thinking anyway)
Either everyone remote watching can vote, or nobody can. Nothing of this "only those who pay can vote"-nonsense suggested in the first post.

That being said: people at the party should be the only ones allowed to vote.

My personal opinions, based on my experiences from KG and TG:

Quote:
would you open the compos to remote entries on a bigger scale ? has it been successful at the last buenzli/main parties, did it bring too much work for the orgas ?

No. Not because of the added workload, but because for me personally remote entries are soulless. That being said, we have accepted remote entries at KG before, without really having discussed this in a principal matter.

Quote:
would you open the vote to webvotes ? with a weight differential ? based on which ratio ?

No. If you stay home, you don't get to join the party. The party is for those who's present. People not at the party can have their say on pouet after the party.
would you be willing to pay a few euros through paypal to get a stable livefeed, and why not, to be able to remote vote ?
No, and no.

Quote:
would you like more standalone theme-based web compo like the famous TMDC or Xmas compo ?

If the theme is good, perhaps. But probably not. I prefer being at a partyplace with other contestants for the demoshow. Seeing (and hearing) what I've done on a big screen and PA is more of a motivator for me than competing. Experiencing how others react when doing so even more.

Quote:
would you like more or less web compos based on a corporate sponsor theme ?

See general opinions on web compos over. Apart from that, the more the merrier. People not inspired by a sponsor theme can always just stay away. If some sponsor want to give away swag to demosceners, great.

would you like pouët to cover all the compos from demoparties, to be an exhaustive frontend of all scene.org releases ? that would mean a pouët for music releases and a pouët for gfx ones...

No, pouet isn't suited for that. But to have an online gallery, or a music store (without prices, but with "customer" recommendations and rating systems), for demoscene productions is perhaps a good idea.

Quote:
why not organizing a web compo before the party event to promote it, based on a theme and maybe on some collaborative mechanism, the final results could be shown at the party

Meh.

Quote:
why not introducing an interactive live compo where net participants bring their input through commands, texts, photos, colors, forms... to build a global noisy/messy piece of art ?

I'm not in the demoscene for "art". Web2.0 are for web2.0 people, I don't care.

Quote:
is it possible that demoscene.tv harbors the livefeeds of smaller demoparties whitout their tv crew present at those ?

Sure, but there are two problems with this:
1) You need a stable Internet connection with a solid upstream at the party place for this. A lot of smaller parties don't have this.
2) On-line production will have to be done at the partyplace. This requires knowledge and equipment, which again a lot of smaller don't have/can't afford.
