Capped.TV as a Torrent [October 2009]

category: general [glöplog]

Since I got a few requests for this in both the capped.tv thread and via email...

Full Capped.TV MP4 Collection Torrent

15 GB total, remember you can select individual files if you wish.

Note that these are the high quality mp4s streamed from Capped, using Extended Profile h.264 settings [meaning these sadly will not work on most portable devices].

I am working on supplying main profile low-complexity mp4s [also at 640x360 size used on capped originally], which you'll be able to use on your iPhone or whatnot. :) I'll probably supply a torrent for those as well. This will take some time though since I will be rearranging Capped.TV's system before running that huge encoding job.

Web seeding is also in the torrent [GetRight style, supported in uTorrent and others], to grab files directly from capped.tv if there's no seeders. :)

Anyway, enjoy.

Thanks, seeding ;).

Extended Profile? Did you probably mean "High Profile"? I don't know of any realistic use for Extended Profile, let alone an encoder capable generating Extended Profile material. (Actually it can be argued whether even High Profile is useful for capped.tv: the 8x8 transforms mostly only pay out for higher resolutions, and I doubt that you actually made the effort to create custom scaling matrices for demoscene content :)

This got me thinking: it'd be easy to stick this on a box, and write a quick program to play them back fullscreen with a bit of a transition and maybe a title overlay. Put it next to a board explaining what demos are: instant, automatic, 24-7 outreach. It'd be great for putting on a projector at events.

So I've got a question: I'd like to put some of the rejected and alternate MindCandy 3 demo captures online somewhere -- in full quality. These are videos that we had to cut from MindCandy for various reasons and are about one gig each in size. These would obviously not be streamed, but downloadable, and playable via software blu-ray players (ie. powerdvd, media player classic homecinema) or able to be burned to a BD-ROM. Anyone got any decent ideas on hosting a 25G torrent and/or the raw files?

(meaning, for free or for very low cost, preferably with a semi-popular tracker that won't go away any time soon (coughpiratebaycough))

trixter - I can help ya set up that torrent if you wish anyway, or at least offer to seed it. :)

Best to use the full tracker list in my torrent:

udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce
http://tracker.openbittorrent.com/announce

udp://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce
http://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce

http://z6gw6skubmo2pj43.onion:8080/announce
http://z6gw6skubmo2pj43.tor2web.com:8080/announce

Or at least use open bittorrent and publicbt. The hidden tor tracker seems to be down lately.

psonice - Guess I should update this player eh?

KeyJ - You tell me then. :)
