The scene bare naked
*********************

Mr Sand, you've written a very 'poetic' article about my supposed goals and views in issue 12/04 of Pain.
Before debunking all your sickening arguments, let's said a bit about the form of your hallucinatory delirium.

You've told us at Pouet that the style of your article has been inspired by kurt tucholsky who was a Jewish-German satirist.
Learn that we don't care from who you've copied your writing style from. Indeed in the Diskmag Scene and in life generally we care about facts and originality, not fake.

Attentive sceners will remember by the way that you read texts written by highly literate people and thus that YOU are acquainted to their way of expression.
Thus YOU know perfectly well what the expression "literary language" means and the tools used by this language.

This style of expression uses extensively, like me, figures of speech such as metaphores, irony, parallel, oxymoron, use of idioms, drama, ...
Add to that, the fact that you're a Russia historian and so that you spend your time reading, deciphering and understanding texts, so you're perfectly able to understand MY english.

WHY I'VE BEEN SO VIRULENT WITH YOU?

I don't say that my article was wise about the scene:
it's a wide organization and nobody sees it from the same perspective.

Why?

Because of time: the scene changes all the time, people come, people go, trends change.
Because of space: some countries have different point of view, values and cultures.

Anyway I get hard on you because of all your 'arguments', none is true.
NONE and you've told tall stories from the outset as demonstrated below.

You've been evil all the time and in fact murderous with your inadequate vocabulary, harsh words, out-of-place comparisons.
You've tried to blackmail myself as proved hereafter too.

You've also tried to remove me from Hugi and to muzzle my free speech in this open minded society the scene is and every sceners have noticed this.
That why your 'article' have been judged utterly controversial to say the least.

Let’s start the 'cum fiesta':

Your strategy: Give a dog a bad name and hang him.

1/ Comparing my views to irrelevant b******t about former USSR regarding an article that you've perfectly understood,
just show you feared my 'leadership' and thirst of freedom for the scene and hard working sceners.

Indeed due to your obvious money interest and high profile in the scene,
you'd rather like not sharing any form of leadership in YOUR territory: the sponsors owned and controled scene.

To be clear with everybody, under tyrant dictatorship, art is used as a way to brainwash the population to accept what is not acceptable.
This was the case with Social Realism in Russia from Stalin until 1991.

My article dealt with absolutely opposite goals than the one you've assigned to me and is in no way related to the USSR and the many friends I have there as my mother is russian.

On another hand, your sponsors have different goals and really establish living norms unlike me: I don't runs on it like you and your fellow corrupted organisers.
The goal of the big corps in the computer hardware market is simply to be able to produce games, films, and any kind of real life information from scratch to control us.

Games are used for conditionning players using Ivan Petrovitch Pavlov (Иван Петрович Павлов) theory: games teach and train people to react automatically to certain stimulus without thinking.
And to make the conditionning perfect and to bring more and more players in their game, they require games to be more and more realistic thus the hardware evolution of 3D graphics cards.

What's the use of conditionning players and the population generally?
Military indoctrination, divide and conquer strategy, empire building, world domination: the usual politician and big corp ideals and behaviours for centuries.

2/ I don't want to make money out of sceners and their creations like you've failed to convince them.
Instead I want to bring them free: it's clearly written in my 'pamphlet' that money from DVD sales goes to sceners and in no way to me.

By selling their own goods they would be independent from sponsors, you and your fellow organisers.
Sponsors beeing the main source of income from a party.

Income which goes, as everybody has always known, to you Dipswitch of BlackMaiden, Scamp, Unlock and the many party organisers and associations they preside.
Removing this cartel and business will free Sceners creativity and bring a lot of fresh air in the scene, and thus a lot of new talents: artists want freedom of creation.

As you know very well sponsors are interested in popular art only: it's the biggest part of the pie, the biggest market share.
They want it under control so they keep command over the hardware offer as different artworks require different hardware.

e.g:
Lemmings or Civilization don't require the same hardware as Second Life or Crisis.
The latest type requires significant repetitive hardware upgrades so bring more money to the US military hardware industry and in the eye of many players using Nintendo consoles, less fun.

THE SCENE AN ALTERNATIVE COMMUNITY. REALLY?

You then argue that your scene is an ALTERNATIVE community.

You can take the popular demo FR-25 (rel. march 2003 at BreakPoint 2003) and Candytron FR-30 as 'brillant' examples of this mainstream and thus NOT alternative scene you're a fierce defender of:
dance which is the preliminary to sex and refer to harmony and thus refer again to sex is the most common theme used in pop art because it improves sales.

Yes it lulls masses and sceners into unconsciousness, whereas maths and abstract art don't as they bring mind clarity and depth of judgement: two ennemies of the state and big corp empires.
These 2 mainstream demos among sadly many others were released ho so strangely before my august 2004 article get published.

And what?
Fr-25 is the most popular demo ever and Candytron is not unpopular either like many non alternative demos incitating sceners to upgrade their hardware and to consume: real 'revolution' propaganda...
They are in fact completely conformist to masses appeal, industry goals and released at parties sponsorised by Intel, a multi billions American company, the 5th most known brand worldwide!

Another not less 'nonstandard' theme in "new" demos is war and destruction such as in Debris, E.T or StarStruck, and all the demos I've quoted in Hugi #30: again not an original theme.
Typical consumer military conditionning to let us accept force as a way to impose our views here and there around the world.

And to keep our comfort levels high, stealing oil, exploiting poor countries, and then get us dreaming in front of video-games or TV as you've everything possible without doing nothing.

You can consider also Pouet with its consumer survey prods like listing and its coffee shop like BBS gossiping as also very 'offbeat' to the mass consumption system.
This Lidl like establishment does like it's real life counterpart, an excellent job at spreading prods but isn't alternative, it's just in appearance efficient.

And you could also find a very 'unconventional' vision in Slengpung: thousands of drunken nerds, on the grass, polluting nature, with photos of laptops, looks like a sceners facebook.

Diskmags like Pain or Hugi, are also very 'revolutionary' in their most often than not swallow and out of focus content:
we learn plenty of information about eugenism, and absolutely 'important' info from former 2003 interviews made with the same boring uniform and useless questions, totally essential reading!

Next you criticize my ideas, my "suggestions", that's the word I've used.
With good reason, i.e to suggest and not impose like you Mr Pinocchio has given the appearance of.

Those lame attempts of mine to give more imagination had NOT the aim to rule over sceners creativity:
the whole article was about making a lot of hype to bring back the oldskoolers in the game, a goal partially reached and we work at it harder as you don't help.

The whole style issue between me and the scene is just a cultural shock:
demos were far less german industrial looking before and not that mass appealing either, with plenty of hand drawn gfx and emphasis on the human factor and abstract art.

Communication was relaxed while remaining serious and text used Irony, figures of speech, like my so infamous but very popular 'article'.

MY GOALS?

Anyway in all Hugi issues I've participated after #29, if you read objectively and between the lines all my articles, like do all other sceners, you'll notice that:

I've done a lot of oldskoolers interviews and managed a lot of others in the background, for example the Jogeir interview.
It was a way to get back in order, the scene machine mechanic: people with their ideas, personnality and skills are the main things in the scene like in any other human group.

I wanted them to come back as I had a big feeling of being part of a family.

And I wanted the scene initial underground feeling to be back for artistic purpose:
it was a secret hidden rather private and really alternative and anonymous society which hence due to this context produce alternative content.

An escape from the consumption system with a far less public appearance then.
See the comment made about that in the latest Moby interview available at bitfellas.

I was motivated mainly by something called cultural and thus technical heritage preservation:
the scene in the mid 80's up to mid 90's was in my perspective very alternative, a real new cultural phenomenon.

FYI:
the C64 and former 8 bits, the first 16/32 bits machines have sold far less than any PC has ever did, we were part of niche market by rather educated connoiseurs.
We were let's said 5 millions in our respective niche market and people making those computers were passionated, they were not that much into money, they had fun.

Today things are REALLY different: the PC isn't an alternative platform as 1 billion unit of the 'personnal' computer have been sold.
It's hence a mass market where uniformity is on par with your industrially packaged 4K / 64K or your demos with Windows like loaders: they aren't alternative at all.

The messages you're conveying in most demos are among the most 'revolutionary' too: consume, upgrade and die. WOW! I feel the rebellion!

WHY DID YOU TRIED TO SHUT ME BY PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH?

Mr Stalin spiritual son, you've never forgiven sceners for no more using your BBS when fast DSL lines became popular and your greed was present in your art from day one in your $$$ ASCII art.
You boast about the scene being Anarchist rooted in your "a slap in the face" drivel, to try to show and convince others you're a genuine scener.

And what sponsoring, a typical capitalist feature, in this case by the world biggest computer consumer hardware makers making billions a year, has to do with Anarchism? NOTHING!
Sponsoring squashes creativity and freedom: it turns you into sales representatives, thus you sell an image for sponsors thus get rid of any kind of individuality and freedom of behavior.

The living norms you try to hide are those imposed on sceners at your parties: be photographed, wearing a bracelet ID, acting like the common sheeple wasting all his money in alcohol, ...
I've nothing against drinking, neither against beer, but against the alcohol contained in and obviousy I'm against this sheep factory the demoscene has become.

I’m also against the militarization of people like it is ATM in the scene: you’re standardized geek products, everybody can feel and see the box walls surrounding you.

Your binges on Slengpung just show your sceners act like the average consumer around:
being drunk, fat, eating junk food and making party isn't alternative to the unconscious minded brainwashed society and idle masses.

Using your brain and bringing true reflection, culture, knowledge and profoundness of analysis is alternative: a few demos does that, yes.

On the other hand your beloved sponsors dump sceners like any boss i.e. as soon as they don't get any return on investment like for the 2009 breakpoint edition:
they don't give a fuck about sceners, their artwork, scene social structure and struggle neither about the real-time "essence" of the scene, as you perfectly know.

Sponsors are there for getting cheap advertising, as sponsoring is about that and only that and they get it:
learn that broadcasting a 30 sec ads one time on TV costs 7600 EUR + production costs, whereas sceners demos cost peanuts and only target the geek market

i.e. the extremist guys who sold the most expensive hardware by the example and lead the 'innovation' and thus sales.

You're NOT part of any Anarchist, neither Alternative community, you're a salesman who gather as much human resources and thus skills for the industry.
Let's call a spade a spade: Mr Dipswitch of BlackMaiden / Up Rough is a liar and a sophist, a true traitor to the initial scene ideals.

WHAT ARE YOU HIDDING BEHIND YOUR AMIGA T-SHIRT?

"Life can be different!" you yell with Pain.
Yes it can: WITHOUT you, your fellow organizers and all the sponsors who sponged quite a lot of time and thus cash from money, law, tax and accountancy ignorant "sceners".

An association as you've studied law in depth is a way to avoid paying tax, while enabling you and members to use the money for non-lucrative goals.
Your sponsors know that very well: hiding an advertising company as a computer enthusiasts geeky association is a great way to avoid paying taxes to this thief the state is.

Back in the 'good old' days we weren't stupid, our goals were crystal clear: be independent and thus have our own source of income. We were forerunner of startups.
That's why you, Scamp and other main figures in the Organizers scene are respected and / or feared: you are self-employed and so free.

Your article and repetitive inuendos about my supposed 'treason' and 'retardation' are what is known as aggressive psychological manipulation.

YOUR scene is treason of the initial hacking community ideals, the original demoscene being part of, and gross lack of intellectual subtlety:
animations have been part of demos since their beginning and that has killed in no way the scene, in fact it has provided challenge for real-time prods.

It's a fact: it's easier to do something precalculated first then turn it into real-time later as you're not stuck with computation constraints.

You can find precalculated animations in legendary demos like D.O.S by Andromeda, Hardwired by The Silents, Faktory by Virtual Dreams, Wicked Sensation by TRSI, Enigma by Phenomena, ...
All big famous and independant groups as history has shown and demonstrated brillantly.

Nobody has really criticized that: the effect and emotion it produces are what we care about.

By the way video-conversion, I talk about that and only that in my 'pamphlet', were available far BEFORE my 'betrayal' article and are now available on demo.tv and elsewhere.
So far no sceners have been killed and the scene is not dying.

Farbrausch, the leading group in the "new" scene has released a while after my 'babbling' article a tool to make a video conv of any real-time demo, strange isn't it?
And they provide, for the sake of sanity and save their time in debugging sessions, links to video-conversions of all their prods on their homepage.

The "Animation Or Die!" war cry was btw, as everybody has understood including you pityful loser, a parallel to the Chaos antithesis "Demo or Die!".
It was made on purpose to mean: we don't care that much about quantity of demos but instead would rather have a very few of high quality that we can see on any machine not your watt wasting tanks!

Not everybody watch demos by thousands or even dozens. Some people, like to see say 10 demos a year as it makes them even more delicious and meaningful.

And I wanted them on DVD because streamed videos are a poison to the earth: all those network hardware mobilised when you watch them is using a huge amount of electric power, thus pollute.

Of course all that isn't of the taste of your American sponsors: they are in for selling hardware via advertising and you are their gateway to convince sceners that the scene is 'alternative'...

Here is the ideal time to speak about Hard Drive, Storage and Internet, the new storage / transfer media generally speaking.
They are the most ignored hardware parts by the present scene and the scene is supposedly about using the hardware to the maximum, back to its roots at least.

If you take, let's said a guy called Oxbab of Oxygene better known in the video game industry as Christophe Balestra, co-president of Naughty Dog:
this former coder who has won numerous awards in various parties on as different platforms as the ST, Amiga and PC and is now at the very top of a leading game dev house.

He and the team he is part of have made among the best games on all the different PlayStation models: Crash Bandicount, Jak and Dakster, Uncharted.
Here is a small extract of his interview ***}}

This individual, is part of one if not the best game developping team and company.
And he talks about DVD and BlueRay in his interview as part of what make the PS3 a good console.

THE HISTORY OF THE SCENE?

You know, you don't teach new tricks to old dogs: I've joined the scene in 1992, i.e 4 years BEFORE you.
So who has experienced better the scene's roots, you or ME?

The scene was called the demoscene back then and is an outgrowth of the cracking scene.

But soon cracktros and crackers have parted with demos and demomakers: demomakers turned videogame artists or coders, while crackers well cracked the games of their "friends".
You can read the common history of the Union and Thalion about this.

It's a different thing to make a demo than to crack a game.

The former is about being creative and writing code while using resources made by other non-code and code oriented members.
The later is about reading code made by others and finding ways to change it so it runs without the protections blocking your copy to work.

Both require intelligence but cracking is definitively bad for the economy you crack the software of: nobody will buy something they can get for free especially in Europe, Russia and China.

So the most creative and productive have turned video game professionals, the others have done something else:
quality control for example as a good eye and deep understanding of what is going on is great for that kind of job or cryptography or...

By the way some former demos were using music and picture ripped from games and thus were a mix between the illegal cracking scene and the legal video-game industry.

The demoscene was the child of two entities completely opposite: opposites attract, that's life.

To make a long story short, the scene was among other things an artistic movement with an ideology, a lot of idealism, and lots of contradictions as shown:
art is mushrooming with contradictions, and there is a plenty with people from varied backgrounds.

The scene was a conglomerate of talents coming from all kind of milieu in every aspect: music, design, graphics, sound, code, swapping, cracking, hacking, accountancy, police,...

Most demomakers were not working in video-games companies but the most talented ended there like many crackers too (some went to jail also... ie like the replicants)
And the never-ending members moves from group X to group Y were cross-pollinating and multiplying talents by spreading and combining techniques.

It was also a lab for creating better software technologies for future games.
The scene was leading the way with better routines than in commercial games, e.g. equinox Vodka demo has far better differential scrolling than the ST version of Shadow of The Beast.

And the audience was just a pool of "beta-testers" or guinea pig to discover what's wrong on which machine and what please the audience while advertising BBS for cracks...

THE NEW SCENE? A CORPORATE CULTURE

Now I felt it's too commercial, with too many mod cons, and out of the scene actors i.e sponsors.
Some people are really selfish, and we can see your heads here and there: you've lost your mystery, secret aura and your alternative way of life.

You're just a pool of skills that the industry can grab by the skin of the ass when they require new advertising.
The way nowadays games are made and thus in a way many "modern" demos is far more industrial than before.

Any recent book about serious GPU game programming isn't filled with empirically made discovery but by several PHds each focusing on only one feature of a graphic card.
Thus is far less crafty / empirical and in fact completely opposite to the original scene ways, it's industrial made because game is a BIG business making huge profits.

So in the scene there is less innovation as you're all following games trends, hardware is so complex nobody will ever use it to the maximum: it'll be obsolete commercially before you can.

And well, FR demos are really too much uniform like and they have no choice because they have no time: love is time and the German society has a fast pace, love is dying and money is growing...

You're also sticking to national mass culture beer traditions and coders mysticism.
Basically sceners are framed by advertising, corporate and local culture and have lost creativity by working all the time with the same people:
the scene needs fresh blood from different fields than videogame entertainment as nowadays you've all turned to be as swallow as the final customers of your games, ie the masses of FPS players.

Basically on the economic side the "new" scene is a good way:

1st to sell and promote new hardware by making a lots of hype in front of geeks formatted since birth to buy the latest gadget

2nd to get trained on their own and thus cheap coders and artists for making the next games

Killing two birds with one stone: having new customers, new skilled labor, and keep selling new 'useful' improvements while making a lots of dough with as few investment as possible.

WHAT WE OLSKOOLERS ARE LOOKING FOR?

Here I will explain a few things so you better understand why oldskoolers aren't happy with newskool stuff:
Real-time has a value only if the result is perfectly sleek on a given fixed and limited hardware supposed not be able to do the job.
When we say "it's 60 fps", we are taking the fps number as a quality gauge.

But quality doesn't stop at that as to be sleek a real-time animation has to be done in a certain way to avoid flickering and tearing:
we used vertical blank line and horizontal blank line interrupts, raster synchro and double / triple buffer, the formers have vanished on the PC so demos can't show 2D effects as smooth as before.

The number of fps aren't constant too as the OS is stealing cycles in the background resulting in frame skipping ;(
It's not possible to get the Swiss Watch mechanic accuracy anymore: computers hardware is too different to maximize market penetration.

This was the perfect cycle accurate timing that was interesting making demos: everything was under control and without any interface like DirectX, OpenGL or Win32.

It's also obvious that we were not in the scene to show off: we are very pleased with anonymity and one to one interaction than with 1 to N massive mess 'communication'.

That's among other things why I've wrote my articles and why I'm writing this one: to keep a spot of light on in the darkness of ignorance we can read here and there on the Intarweb.

End of the explanation.

MY INTEREST IN THE SCENE?

You question my interest in the scene too as what makes your scene is what I seem not interested in:
your ‘traditional’ 4K and 64K aren't that traditional, go to Pouet and sort prods by date of release, you'll see that from the outset and for years, the scene wasn't about such things.

Generally speaking, you're too young and the scene is a far too much dynamic structure to have any tradition or maybe you're into your old granny church thing?

I don't buy that, I buy quality genuine things only and I like text written by educated coders who code as much as possible by hand: they usually have grounded arguments like Navis.

I was interested in this social conglomerate of people coming from everywhere with varied points of view and artistic styles.
It made my brain merging with the innards of the machine, increase my level of consciousness about reality and gave good vibes.

The coder 'mysticism' is interesting and is about making a bit of magic with bits, that is illusion.

And illusion is the substance of life, so coding is about discovering hidden truths and thus about penetrating the essence of life through the number medium.

Exactly the universe can be compared to a Von Neumann Machine.
Coding has also other perks: as it requires a rather analytical way of dealing with reality, it enables you to better understand it.

Coding is mysticism in essence: to be a mystic is to look to became one with the universe, indeed like ancient Pythagoras disciples did.
Numbers show you that everything is encapsulated: individuals in society and culture, hierarchically ordered even if companies tend to let you believe hierarchy is belonging to the past.

Even the 'Anarchic' scene and animals are classified: just have a look at how you react when Chaos / Navis / Kb / ... post something and see their influence on the whole scene.

It's no more different than a bird leading a flight.

Whatever I've understood that by reading Buddhism, philosophical, scientific books, watching nature, working hard in a gym and not by coding, but coding led me to do that.

I've joined the scene because I was searching for the truth, nothing less!

VALUES OF THE SCENE:

OLDSKOOL = A BUNCH OF PIRATES WITH AN INTERESTING ARTSY MIND
NEWSKOOL = PROFESSIONAL GEEKS WITH AN EYE FOR POPULAR TRENDS

When it comes to what you call "values" of the scene, it's hilarious: the scene has no values, it's a haunt of robbers with a good sense of drama and lots of spirit and skills.
They were crafty people including coders ready to cheat every programming rules they can to get the job done while getting the maximum with the least possible action: efficiency in essence.

There is no law in the demoscene and copyright infringement is still a feature of the whole play:
commercial samples such as popular dance and hard or not rock music, album covers, heroic fantasy redrawn pictures such as Boris Valejo or Hard Rock Eddy, Motorhead,
video games / movies pictures and designs / anims and sound rips or even code rips were and are common!

That's why among other things flame wars and wars between groups occurred:
some were copying others code and there was a lot of lack of respect between even very tight people, especially coders, e.g. Mr Pet and Chaos.

Just watch demos from Kefrens, Oxygene, Sanity, Equinox, Andromeda or the Pouet avatars and artwork used at Exotica as a quick check about the art / music copyright infringement.

And it is not a bad thing even if illegal: it's a clever reuse of material nobody really cares about and it saves plenty of hours of human labor and energy, so it's recycling.

Wars as they were virtual and behind a keyboard and a screen where more a fun way to waste our time and use irony and drama,
such as was the case between Kefrens and Melon Dezign or the fax war between The CareBears and The Lost Boys.

Another reason of flame wars was misunderstanding: cultural differences, misinterpretations of writings and carelessness were common.

The scene has always been a bit religious too, proof the industry had a strong hand in this game since start:
holy wars between Amiga and Atari with plenty of Commodore and Atari logos in demos were common during the Atari vs Amiga war years.

Holy wars are a way to further control with force using biased ideology and blind faith that hide true reasons and wipe out objectivity, see the last US war in Iraq as an example.

DIPSWITCH A VICTIM REALLY?

You've played the role of the harassed victim, whereas in fact you were getting advantage of my English weakness, and it demonstrates you're an opportunist furthering his dominant position.

I've decided then to let you sink in your contradictions, lies and manipulations so everybody out there know who you really are: not an honest person.
Everything is readable at Pouet and google has cached all your posts while webarchive.org has copies too.

By the way, maybe that's the only way to get things done with not so curious and enlightened people: formatted videogame makers only interested in the latest hardware toy to play with.

I'm pretty sure anyway, you've understood the real meaning of my mistranslation about 'breaking your balls':
you've learnt 7 languages and have moved from one country to another, so you know cultures and ways of expression are different.

And Russians aren't exactly sissy persons and thus are hard to hurt with words. You've played comedy and mislead people even friends in this affair for personal purpose; I'm 100% sure about that.

FYI learn than in French we use plenty of expressions referring to sex and the genitals, and "breaking the balls of somebody" means being a "pain in the neck".

Learn also we are into novel and thus use a lot of figurative language, figure of speech, so when I've wrote "till your death", that meant "till the end of your life".

By the way a little research on the web would have returned an AC/DC album name called ballbreaker (the Aussie have a florid language like the French).
A dictionary search would have given you the right translation too.

So the whole mistranslation meant, "being a pain in your neck till the end of your life".

By the way, Russia isn't deprived of good books neither is Germany: 5th biggest book publisher in the world in 2009, so you've no excuse to not understand by faking ignorance.

So you're a liar, an hypocrite or a really stupid person but I don't believe you're.
The fact nowhere on the Internet your real name is present just proof how clever you really are and aware of what you do and I've never thought you being a dumbass Mr Switch, NEVER.

Organizing parties, having a lot of contacts, being a DJ, speaking 7 languages, integrating in a foreign country
and be able to confuse so many natives for so many years with false news and knowledge of history, that is plots, mass manipulations and exploitation, power relationships,
just show you are taking sceners for a ride since day one and is in a way clever.

*******************************************
*But in the end the truth always shows up:*

*******************************************

The real-time religion you told us I've 'blasphemed' is in fact a marketing way to push coders releasing newer and newer free advertising for the most expensive PCs.
They are produced by the big industry behind the demo organizers who pays your "lull into unconsciousness parties" while those dreamers make advertising for free.

A demonstration is just that: it demonstrates the capabilities of the hardware like a salesman demonstrates you that his model of vacuum cleaner cleans well.

WHO I REALLY AM?

You've labeled me a retard too but hey I don't have the experience you've with retards:
you're surrounded by them at parties as we (me and sponsors) have seen on Slengpung and we had a good laugh, I'm very sure.

Ha yeah and don't worry, they have also an eye on the Pouet forum too, just to be sure all those coders and artists aren't that much into entrepreneurship.

Well, sadly for them and hopefully for me, I'm self employed not working in IT anymore (but with a big experience of) and in Russia as my mother is Russian.
A country you're welcome to visit again: the KGB knows everything you write about communism, and they wait you.

Now, learn that I'm not born yesterday and I use computers daily since 1985, I've trained and packed games (far less than you, I was focused on making tools).
I’ve programmed CPUs in various languages including C and assembler at a high level.

I've used Linux and installed distribs by hand, compiling some tools from sources, experienced scripts, ...
I've followed 3 years of university courses in computer programming and networks.

I've worked for the French state as a system Admin, as a self employed person doing the same job Scamp does + designing and making advertising.
I’ve worked for a BIG multinational as a level 2 service desk solving IT issues not fixable by their local technicians for their 130 countries branches using English in 80% of the cases.

I’ve worked for another multinational entirely in English, so well yes I know the IT industry quite well.

I've refused 3 jobs in very big videogame companies houses (Activision, NOA, Big Fish) for ethical reasons:
I don't like spreading death, violent ideologies like most 3D games do and I've experienced that most games in the IQ / Logic are worse than a piece of paper and a math problem to solve.

And I can tell you that wages were far higher than my current wages so I'm not interested into money either as it's not money that brings happiness, it's avoiding misfortune.
Thus I'm not jealous of your ninja turtle, polluting and energy wasting lifestyle.

I'm a thinker: somebody with ideas, values, a vision and also a sensitive soul.
The kind of person the PEGI rating has been made for.

You should apply a scene version on all demos too at least on the Pouet classification to not spoil the demo display.
And why not asking you why you're so aggressive and have such violence in your demos?

SPORT AND DICTATORSHIP?

It's a well known fact: every sportsman in this world is a member of a fascist, neo-nazi, ultra nationalist, right winged, totalitarian, absolutist, close minded party. Absolutely ALL...

And have you ever heard of the idiom "Mens sana in corpore sano"?
"A sane soul in a sane body" that’s what it means.

Sport and any physical activity generally brings plenty of perks like a clear mind and plenty of sex.

In the oldskool paradigm, you're supposed to push the limits of the machine to the maximum making what is impossible true and in sport you push your body and mind limits to reach goals.
Sport is optimizing yourself and thus your life.

THE TASTE-DICTATOR?

Where are my taste defined in my 'message in a bottle' article?
By the way, I NEVER said nor thought that my taste was better nor superior to any other scener taste: NEVER.

I've said "stop releasing bad demos" and most if not all readers have correctly understood what I meant.
"Bad" in this context means "hurting", violent for soul sensitive persons, like I'm.

In the early 90's when I've 'joined' the scene, we were around 1600 people in and we were very much in love of the arts and people variety.
I've and all this scene have seen dozens to one hundred of demos that were not aggresive in their theme, but often ironic, and using derision.

Demos were improving by copying and perfecting each other while being influenced by many different art movements and each group had its style and personality by the way.
I just wanted that back and text on the screen as it removes anxiety and gives an human touch as both creators and viewers are human beeings, this include germans too and you.

My 'Article' was about getting back the diversity of talents, skills, technical mastery and cultural influence the scene had back in the 90's to the present scene.
Diversity is power and an intelligent and tight community like the scene is, knows that very well, that why seeing slengpung with its upmost vulgarity strikes me: it's the opposite of variety.

The dictator Mr Switch it's you: Artists are the only free men on hearth and have not to follow any Organizers delirium as they usually have no clue about the technical side of the game.
e.g. Mr Dipswitch what is a low pass filter, a differential equation or a matrix? What the difference between C and C++ languages? What's DirectX, GL, HAL? Have you ever used a compiler in your life?

I guess not as you’ve very very poor maths and formal logic skills.
So instead of judging somebody writings with a feable knowledge as yours (you've acknowledged knowing nothing about 8 bits for example), you'de better visit various non famous sceners websites.

Being able to organize a party is an amazing feat. I’ve never denied it.
But it is NOT a proof of any technical expertise in demomaking.

YOUR ASSOCIATION

Now let's talk about your association pages.
I split my sides reading your definition of "real-time": it's so vague, so not techy oriented than it lacks any credibility and usefulness, pure marketing talk.

When I see what you've made of the scene that is a business, I'm not happy and I'm not alone.
Because it wasn't like that before and you've killed the initial spirit at least in the PC scene: a party it's 200 persons max, so there is an ambiance and people talk to each other.

I'll not trust your association till its accounts books get published each year on the Internet so everybody knows where the money goes and comes from, the same for demo parties.
REAL anarchist newspapers do it to be trusted AND they are money independent: they don't sleep with people they are supposed to be opposed of, logic and mere common sense isn't it?

WHY I'VE JOINED THE SCENE INITIALLY?

I've personally joined the scene because the first coder I've ever met is a math genius and has an inner strength I've never met after.
I've watched many demos because the geometric figures were more captivating than the math and physic course at school while helping build my knowledge and understanding.

I've seen those same figures recently at the Helsinki medicine museum in the mineral section: nature was the source of inspiration of demomakers.

There were some philosophical and spiritual texts in a few demos, an intelligent and sarcastic critic of the system too and I was younger, now my priorities are different.
It was very artsy and art is a language, a far more powerful than words, it talks emotion.

The general reasoning behind the visual parts, e.g the coders way of thinking was rather scientific too and featured ingenious engineering but poor coding style and structure generally.
When I've started deciphering their code, I've focused my effort on making the code structure clean and simple because, well democode was and is surely still, very messy and confuse.

I see such a cut and dry and discourteous approach, in many reasoning I've stumble upon at Pouet.
Those guys really need to understand order, as structure is everything when you code and it make things thousands time easier to manage a project on the long run.

By the way the illusion in former demos is achieved by trickery and thus isn't scientific in any way.
Although code is not portable making all those piece of code rather useless: an intelligent way to make a piece of code is to make it reusable so we save time for other people in the future.

It's not the case today either in the game programming world or at the cost of performance.
I hate those OS that require more than 250 times the power of former one for basically doing the same thing just with more colors and pixels.

It's maybe a big improvement in development time but a waste of power and huge pollution on the other hand.
I've never worked hard at making a demo because of motivation: it was opposed to my love of order and utilitarian philosophy.

ABOUT MISTER DIPSWITCH

Whatever, Emperor Sand, I concede your one-upmanship in grandiloquence and manipulation of weak minded coders, but hey we were both swappers, so you know how to rule the world: MARKETING IS POWER.

When it comes to make a complaint against me, you can try: your pseudo is a trademark and you CAN'T use it legally as a handle and you're committing for years a trademark violation.
You do to hide your identity because you've been highly involved in piracy, another proof of your greediness and crookedness.

You didn't hide this and you've even acknowledged at Pouet that you know some coders in the scene who do both cracks and demos:
FairLight maybe, with their 50 000 cracks and the use of star wars copyrighted AT-AT in their 2006 winning demo.

So if you know crackers that means they trust you as those person aren't telling this to everybody usually and if they trust you that's because you probably spread their releases...
After all a Russian fluent in English and German, knowing more than enough about computers, having a huge network is an ideal gateway between countries and group of people involved in piracy.

Now when you'll have some common sense and a real life, that is not stuck in front of a screen all day long, you'll understand you're a slave of your emotions and hormones.
You'll understand, you're manipulated by big industrial players who have built a digital religion and keep you captive of your vanity, fear and ignorance.

You'll understand one day or another that cracking and then demomaking has always played a positive role for the industry: instead of training people to make games,
renting premises for the training, and spending years to get them the skills required, it's far less damaging, money wise to let them play with cracked versions of photoshop and other tools.

So they build a skillset and get experience only the most wealthy would be able to get in a legal scenario.
It's a fact: former users of cracked software in the demoscene have turn professional with the skills they got at home.

CONCLUSION

Now to finish with the scene and your "so free" subculture:

you're more or less the most privilegied people on earth and have access to many pleasures a few can enjoy.
Your culture is heavily influenced by the video-game industry and the industrial hardware companies behind.

On a professionnal level, you're making those millions of players addicted to their emotions and their greed of power,
and all those thousands hours of time they lose in front of the screen is time lost for learning and really getting enlighten or active.

You military condition people with pavlovian reflex: click to kill, click to fire, ... No reflection, big action.
On the other hands they don't go out and destroy everything, but games require more balance and they’ll be balanced the day consumers will be balanced enough to not buy the worst.

"New" sceners have turned professional only, whereas the former scene was mixed between pros and "for the fun" people who had absolutely no intend to work in the videogame industry.
Thus "New" demos are too much formatted for the hardcore gamers than for a cultured and diverse public.

By making demos about sex, dance, you make yourself dream about that instead of doing it really.
I suggest you to read and APPLY "Double Your Dating" and show your wilderness: girls love the wild as their dream is to tame a wild animal and will get rid of you once tamed, so stay wild.

By making violent games and demos you:

1/ are a very strong source of social chaos, no less powerful and much more harmful than the mass media:
you build and maintain masses in their state of ignorance and idleness while conditioning them with Pavlovian reflex to act like soldiers in case the state need them for war.

2/ are making the world dumber and dumber, people easy to move around like pawn on a chessboard, unable to negociate and lacking any sense of diversity, subtlety and culture:
killing, living in virtual industrial dump and dark future isn't very intelligent.

That why I've quit in 1997: the scene turned to be a commercial outlet for the military and industry big players, completely opposed to its initial ideology.
You were in a way the first to experience the non stop 'improving' and thus quickly turning obsolete hardware running the latest Doom clone.

The initial 'improve your brain making demos' state of mind had vanished.
The result is here today: you're not able to solve an as easy task as the Hugi "IQ" test.

You're more into traditions i.e. in the past than into reason, science and improved sociability, i.e the future.
And your sponsor uses at least one part of the money it makes for military purposes: Intel is highly involved in Supercomputers computation.

Learn that I never thought about killing the scene as the scene is an idea and ideas are immortal: it surely strives on other platform than the popular consumer oriented PC.
Learn that ideas are to human beings what programs are to computers and that in life you reap what you sow: if you put a mess in the head of players they'll put a mess in your life.

Learn that strength comes from union, see how you've done for Breakpoint 2009.
Whereas division and thus competition brings down the most powerful, see what has happened to the Roman Empire and the USA.

Learn that making money by any means leads to dig one's own grave: we are all dependent from Mother Nature.
Respect her. Use less your PC, use the cheapest least powerful one and UNDERVOLT it as much as possible to save on energy and thus prevent pollution.

Now stop all those war stuff in demos and games, more reason, real intelligence and love: the world demands peace.
Anarchy isn't about war, think about your children future.

And your ego requires to be tamed: we are on the same boat and nobody is going to burn it because a few coders had problems in their childhood.
If you can't bear the fact that girls give birth while you males with PhD build mainly industrial chaos, then buy some wise philosophy book and educate yourself about simplicity and wisdom.

Get debugging sessions at your nearest shrink and read scientific and philosophical / wisdom texts to get enlighten once healed.
You've so much better to do than demonstrating your big ego. You'll be loved for your difference and intelligence.

So YES something is haunting the Scene, but sadly it's no more the spectre of treason: it's you red bear vodka nose villain treacherous greedy selfish and ignorant Dipswitch.

The scene has positive sides btw and you've done your load for but hey YOUR scene is the exact OPPOSITE of mine.
Hence, there is a lot of burning fire between both you and me.

Btw the aim is to get all something out of this affair: you've seen that being public and be sponsored brings a number of advantages and a number of inconveniences.
Being 'free' isn't exactly be free if you're like any other persons out there, i.e. a slave of money, and real independents work for themselves or even turn self-sufficient.

On my side, I've learnt that dealing with youngsters from different countries with far more money than me and a bigger ego and vanity,
different philosophies and cultures brings a big headache, so I'll avoid you and others sceners like pest in the future.

DEMO WITH A MEANING. DWAM

ps: I don't have the pretension of being "the scene" as you've insinuated, neither of being as important as you in a vanity based organization such as the PC demoscene.
I'm just sharing with you my meager knowledge so you look less pedantic and more "in the know": that's the height of absurdity for an historian to not know the history of the scene.

The bourgeois with traditions i.e. lack of imagination, it’s you and your friends:
your countries are among the richest in the world and rank better than France so please no more comment about my social status.

Ha yeah, and I've seen your and others lights in the eye, showing emotions, so I know you've feelings, I've never seen you as non human.
I would like you now to have reason, logic, personnality and keep to the point instead of ranting: making silly political, manipulatory games will lead you nowhere with me except to jail.

pps: After such a corker of yours I've reported you to the police with photos and a report in German of your actions so they know who you are, where you are and what you do.
And I don't play intellectual games with people who show by their actions, speech and manner they aren't intellectual and completely non-scientific.

When you'll all have read and practiced a bit of Boolean logic, we will be in touch again, meanwhile I’ll leave you studying.
Ha and last learn that when you have 5 GF you've more than a bit of a clue about psychological tricks: I've seen from day one you were all trying to harras me into releasing a demo!

Now you've got plenty, when your rotten brain will have returned to sanity, you'll decide who to trust in the future: a greedy liar and a manipulator or somebody who states fact after fact.

***************************************************

And now something completely different: the answer to all your most asked questions.

Why Unlock / Andry Joos got spammed?

Andry is a manipulator telling us that he got spammed because he suppose he has rejected to publish articles written by me.
Nothing is farther from the truth.

Privately contacted he told me that he's in the scene for fun.
So I suppose he thinks that publishing such an idiot article as Dipswitch's one in Pain is funny.

For those not aware of Pain internal rules, learn that to get published you need your article to be reviewed and approved by all Pain editors i.e Unlock, Dipswitch and others.

That means Dipswitch's article, if the rules have been applied, and Joos is a rigourous person, has reviewed this lame article and have validated it for publication.
Maybe he has found that such an harrasing article was funny.

Sadly for him we didn't and we have thousands of Pain copies scatered around to proof the harrassment from Dipswitch and Joos.
Unlock get spammed because he has allowed such an illegal and psychological disordered article to be published while harrassing me with irrelevant legal threats.

Why Hitchhikr and pouet got spammed?

Franck Charlet has posted a reply about my comment -> http://pouet.net/topic.php?which=2109&page=3
"Londoners aren't responsible for their government actions: most people there came from others part of the world, they perhaps don't even vote"

Here is what he thought about the bombing in London:
"Citizenship is more than just voting & basta" he said.

And he concluded by "Good, now if you could be a little bit more subtle that'll be just fine."
Point being I've said MOST PEOPLE IN LONDON AREN'T ENGLISH and I'm more in the know than him as I was living in London at that time.

To set the context, London is a 8.5 Millions people capital with 150 different nationalities living there.
All official papers are translated in at least 60 different languages and the streets are overcrowded with different people, different clothes, languages, slangs, cultures, ...

Don't take my word, check Wikipedia and other web pages about London.
So a huge number of people in London aren't British, they just have or even don't have an UK visa.

They don't support the British system, they go there because it's a mess in their own country. THEY AREN'T UK CITIZEN.
Whereas Frank is a good and active coder, he's not enough subtle in his analysis as he doesn't take all the info into account.

Why there was such a spamming of Pouet anyway?

Outside pouet and the web, life unfolds: 7 july 2005, London bombings, I was there and I got a distressed call from my mother crying.
I don't know for you but my mother rarely cry and when she does it's when things have gone very wrong.

AFAIK, each time I heard her crying, it makes me very sad and distraught with fear.
And I repeat, it's VERY RARE.

I've then bought a bicycle to move around London as I didn't trust the tube anymore: King's Cross St. Pancras is the main hub of the tube and got bombed.
The shool I was studying in, was 5 mins walk from there.

The 2 october 2005, as I was moving back to my flatshare by bike, around 7pm, I got assaulted in the street 5 mins from there.
One young guy thrown an egg at me and I called the police. One minute later I had 30 youngsters on my back and one stroke me with a ring opening a cut above my eye.

The police arrived and demanded as a routine my details which I've given.
I've finished the night at the hospital, got 3 stiches and my bike stolen.

I've then read the irrelevant comment of Franck Charlet and spammed Pouet with this:
"hitchhikr t'es un gros connard! Go hand in hand with your friend Dipswitch and Unlock: you've the same level (LOW)."

I'm coming from a small village of 5000 inhabitants in the south of France, and moving to London was a big change.
I get a training and had myself indebted of one year french low wage salary (8000£ / 12000€) and suddenly I got assaulted for nothing, nearly loose one eye.

The comment of Franck was the last straw and I needed to do something to ease the nervous strain.
Pouet got spammed because he made an irrelevant out of scope comment at a time I was in a very very bad situation.

Why The Hogeschool got a letter so they check the pouet content?

Because when you see a guy commit suicide whereas is in your company, this requires investigation.
By the way as you've shown your hypocrisy while reading correctly anything I've written, aren't rational, are selfish and stupid, I've decided to make your life hard.

There are none so deaf as those who will not hear.

Why I don't take into account the argument of KB about competition beeing the base of what the scene is based on?

Because Top sceners including for example Celebrandil of Phenomena don't consider it as their scener philosphy: http://www.bitfellas.org/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.335
And even the german Farbraush interview for Arte explains that demomaking is about team playing: der demoscene en un global community, demo production ist team work,

Arte interview:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqh1iXIlyJk

Out there we are all linked, if we work against each other we waste our time, energy, knowledge and money.
If we work together we shrink hour loads exponentially, just choose the best system, be clever.
