as always, I'm amazed of what you can do with CSS :)

erhm, this is nice and all - but it does seem like spam promoting your blog. could you perphaps stay in the same thread when posting new stuff??
haha, that voxel twister :D

Ummm ok. If you feel I'm spamming pouet, I'm thinking that there is a good way to compensate it, with something that I should have done time before: to write in my blog about the demoscene and pouet.

For me, the demoscene is, in fact, the pouet community. I've never been in a demo party, and as I'm getting older the time for that is getting more and more reduced, so probably I will never be in a party. So, my main contact with the demoscene is by using pouet.

And, I've not only had hours of fun with pouet and its bbs, but I've been always inspired by your prods and I've learn a lot of coding from the demoscene and by using the pouet bbs, so I have a lot to thanks pouet.

So, well, a first idea is to try to explain roughly what the demoscene is in the simpler way I could, what is pouet, and then some examples of the amazing achievements you have done in some prods.

Personally, I like seeing these things. But then again, take a good look at your own topic, and think how it looks ;) So yeah, keep posting, but maybe keep it in the one thread (not that it's any different, I only see one texel thread on the front page either way... but hey, it'll keep people happier somehow!)

Btw, why not do some demo effects in CSS as an intro to your demoscene article? At least some of the oldschool stuff should be possible, and showing how we started out (with crack intros, then competition for the best effects, then moving into standalone demos and compos at parties etc.) helps people get why we do what we do I find.

psonice: I thought about it. Well, at least to explain in the easier way as possible what is so special about a prod like Elevated for example.

But, with CSS it is not really possible to do so many things, but what about canvas element and javascript? It would be not for IE users, but with canvas, plasmas, fire effect, rotozoomer, tunnel and so on can be easily done.

MÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖP!

Then it's time to invest some bucks and come to the Breakpoint this year. You shouldn't miss it

And "age" is no excuse not to do so! I'm 37 and still manage to visit at least three parties a year! ;)

have you considered auto-scroll with mouse position over a transparent layer? using the elevator bars feels abit odd somehow, would be more intuitive to be able to click and drag, or just move the mouse around freely. no? o_O

ps, i agree. scrollbars are sooooo 90s :)
I like texel's posts here. I don't see it as spam. Keep up the good work :-)

pouët != scene && scene != pouët

It's not like demo parties are full of young kids only. There will be some, but a whole big part of the scene is growing old, not just Mr. Texel ;) "Getting old" isn't really a reason to avoid a demo party.

So, why not build a bunch of css/html/js/webgl/whatever effects together for your article, then join them together and add a tune. There's some time still before breakpoint, you could turn up at the party with a demo to release, and see it live on the big screen :)

texel: about the demo idea, if you aim for webkit, you could warp it in awesomium and have a universal .exe to basically just play your browser demo properly. abit of an overload, but it could be a solution..
