the Ultimate Meeting 2010 - Never Stop That Feeling

category: parties [glöplog]
i'm sure it's going to be the best tUM of the year!
Dear TUM organizers, why the 4k intro compo is excluded from allowed remote entries (as non-individual type of entry)? Or are you afraid of the flood of entries - it was only 6 of them last year, most being not serious work.

The whole point of organizing a demoparty is not the amount of releases - it's about the people who visit the event, have fun, drink beer and talk to each other.

Of course, releases are the main attraction of almost every party but if I think about all the parties I have visited so far - the experience, the interaction and the fun I had outweigh the quality or amount of releases by far - and I don't think that I'm alone with that statement.

To make it short. People who want to release should come to the parties.

That is even more important for the 'big' competitions. Sceners who want to show of their brilliant 4k's, demos etc. which they spent a long time creating should not be satisfied with just releasing them at a random party but should experience them on the big screen with an audience.

Since tUM is not a release party per se but more of a family event with people who want to conclude the demoparty year with their friends, we limit the remote entries to specific competitions.

I'm planning to visit the party this year, too. Is anybody going by car from Vienna or Hungary? I'd like to join you. Of course I'd participate in the gas costs.

With xxx taking off his pants on the stage and metalvotze doing its best, yeah, it kinda fits that description.

hmm, loop compo rules:
Max. 4 bars at 60-180 BPM, that's 16 beats at 4/4

hmm, 8 bars at 120bpm can be interpreted as 4 bars at 60bpm. consequently, 8 bars at 120bpm should be allowed according to this rule, .... or what?

your 4 to the floor house tune runs at 60bpm (instead of 120) but places it's bassdrum on the 1/8s -> fine? or what?

rule is good, though. non-enforced bpm is fine :) but formulating it like "loop duration has to be between 5,3s and 16s" would have been a little clearer, if i get it right.

Ok, the rules of the loop compo have been revised:

Max. loop playing time: 7 seconds (that's 308700 samples at 44.1kHz)

Maybe stupid question, does TUM accept also remote PC-Windows demo entries? Cuz I found info only about remote music and gfx entries.

I dont care about prices, just to show the demo somewhere on the big screen ;o)

jack-3d: Please read the my post on the top of page 2 and consider just coming to tUM instead.

A common "workaround" for your request would be to send someone from your group to the party so that he/she can submit it.

D.Fox: TUM is right now 728 km far from me (I live in Brno, Czech Rep.). This year I visited 6 parties including two outside our country (Breakpoint and Buenzli).

Noone of our groupies is going to be there unfortunately and I think I traveled enough this year. I am going to spend my newborn daughters first xmass at home all together with my wife.

Well who knows next year, we might visit your party as a famiy then ;o)

oh dear, we've got only 90 ppl that plan to come to tUM in 2010!
Will we really be short of visitors this year or are the ppl too lazy to register themselves?!

benJam: Will the party take place even if the number of registered visitors remains low?
added on the 2010-11-26 22:27:19 by Adok Adok
the party will be cancelled if less than 500 people sign up!

Well, this number is quite similar to the last couple of years and doesn't represent the actual visitors. Usually we'll have around 200 visitors.

And no - we won't cancel tUM because there are few registrations.
Why? Because we know that you all want to come and are just too lazy to register yourselves :-)
